Getsemani Cartagena Hotel and Spa has 24 luxury rooms and suites, nine of which are located in the original Republican house and decorated in a period style, as one would expect from a beautiful Republican house. Very poorly managed. They need a new manager/administrator.
Reviewed By dfranksincI sent numerous emails through Hotels.com and the hotel website, no response. After we were in Colombia I called the hotel maybe 10 or 12 times, no response. I wanted to advise them of our late arrival, request a quiet room and arrange an airport pickup. I paid for 4 nights for a superior room. The room had a nice king bed, but the rooms are VERY small. It had to be the noisiest room in the place,,,right on the main road and the breakfast area right below and outside our room. The very loud breakfast noise began about 6am. I right away requested another quieter room. They finally moved us 2 days later to a standard room. So, I requested compensation since I had already paid for a superior room. The staff said the management would be in contact. No such luck. They ripped me off. I never heard a word from the manager, even after several conversations with the staff. Management is horrible in this hotel. On the positive side. The staff is sweet and helpful. The beds are probably the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on.. Breakfast was great. The location was great. Management is very bad.

Reviewed By werthertheoriginalWe stayed before at this place, as the owners look very friendly, we decided after our trip from Minca to go back and stay here. We made a booking through booking.com. Sadly enough our friend got ill and we needed to stay in Santa Marta and take a plane from there to Bogota. As I explained to the owner that our friend got ill and we needed to take a plane to Bogota. He agreed upon canceling the room without any costs. He just kept me in a vicious loop without ever paying the money back that booking.com took from me. Wouldn’t recommend to come here again.

Ideal place for those who are looking for an exclusive place, with charm and good atmosphere. Beautiful colonial mansion from the 17th century that still retains the lordship and authenticity of the time in the Historic Center of Mompox on the banks of the Magdalena River. The property has 6 rooms. Large social area, beautiful gardens with a romantic pool built within the walls of a colonial Riat • Six rooms each with a touch and unique decoration. Private bathroom, air conditioning, hot water, fan, T.V. by cable and Netflix. • Amenities: soap, shampoo, conditioner, bathing cap. Hair dryer. • White cotton bedding and towels. • Wi fi in rooms and the entire.Casa Sinning house.
Expensive and they try to overcharge
Reviewed By JoeDanskiCasa Sinning is a nice antique house but there are other similar hotels for less money! Also, I had a very unpleasant experience when I made the reservation. When I contacted the hotel via whatsapp, Betty the owner replied that she had availability at 240000 COP per night (80 USD). The day I arrived, I checked-in with an employee but then 5 minutes later I saw on booking.com that they were selling rooms at 150000 (50 USD). When I txted Betty about it, she said something unclear about single rooms. As I travel alone, of course I insisted to have the single room rate. Which I got. However, Betty didnt want to give me a discount on the booking.com rate. Knowing the fee is 15% on booking, she could have easily give me a 5% discount as a gesture and still earn well. When I then said that I would then use booking and book the single room online, she paused. Then came back 5’ later and said this would be impossible. Indeed when I tried, the room that 20’ minutes before was available, had been removed. This whole attitude of Betty gave a bad taste, but I stayed because I didnt want to walk through the village to search for something else as it was (and always is) very very hot in Mompox and already getting late. The room I got finally was the same as the one they wanted me to charge 30 usd more initially. So I consider this very dishonest practice from the owner. I therefor dont recommend this place. Even the rate I finally paid (50 usd), is high. Rooms are spacious, but dont have wifi. Breakfast is average. The garden looks nice but twice during the days I was there, workers were doing maintenance and disturbed the peaceful feeling unfortunately....

Reviewed By GeorgeF865A strange hotel if I’m honest. Well located and check in was straightforward. My loft room was spacious, albeit I found it a peculiar use of the space. Going to the toilet in the middle of the night and walking along the creaking floorboards wasn’t ideal. The pool area is nice. I wonder why they’ve not made the pool bigger, and I couldn’t get a pool towel for love nor money. Breakfast up there in the mornings is nice, but the food on offer is very basic.

Reviewed By AlCarrThis is a new small hotel in the Old Town/Walled City. It is located across from the main building of the U of Cartagena, close to the main attractions of the old town. The hotel opened 1.5-2 months ago. Staff are very friendly. However, there were issues with water in the bathroom (first morning, there was no water. I complained and the water started to come but then stopped flowing in the middle of showering!). Breakfast is very poor: a cheese and ham sandwich on white bread, coffee. No options. Price is reasonable.

Great location, building, and staff (especially JAMES)
Reviewed By Christopher KThe hotel is beautiful and the remodel was true to the original style of the building. The rooms are small, but comfortable and well-appointed with AC that works well. The staff is courteous and professional and goes the extra mile to help the guests. James, in particular, went above and beyond to help my friend find a bag that was lost between the airport and the hotel. He put as much effort into finding her bag as if it was his own. I will definitely be staying here next time I come to Cartagena.
