We entered the hotel and was greeted by Star, got our room keys and upon entering we were very pleased. Our room was clean, spacious, up to date, no complaints at all. I normally don't stay at this chain, but so glad that I did while in town to see my daughter graduate from Radford University. We booked two rooms and they both were awesome. Very quiet hotel, got some good sleep, comfortable beds, clean sheets. Complimentary toiletries was a plus. Breakfast was awesome as well, bacon, sausage, eggs, Danish, fruit, etc. You can't go wrong here. We even had a sleeper sofa.

Upon arrival to the room both bed linens were turned down. We were disgusted to find the beds had “private parts” hair in abundance in the sheets along with debris and food crumbs.. the floor looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in days, there was also smashed candy beneath the chair in the corner! The smell of the room was stale and moldy! We left after an hour of arriving .

We had a wonderful stay at the Clay Corner Inn. It was my first time in Virginia and the stay was very pleasant. The rooms were clean, the staff were friendly, and we definitely enjoyed our stay :) There is a cute restaurant on the first floor with music. We did not get a chance to visit it because we were taking part in a wedding, but I definitely would check it out!

We just got home from a stay at the Inn at Virginia Tech. I was so impressed with everything we experienced at the hotel. The staff was superb. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent. An awesome visit. Anytime we come to the area, it’s where we will stay.

This is my second time staying at this hotel. The rooms and hallways are not very clean. STAY AWAY if you are allergic to dust. I Was awaken by headache and sinuses draining in the early morning because I have a severe dust allergy and the room is filled with dust. I thought I may have stayed in a dirty room last time and decided to give this hotel another chance since I was only staying for a night, but this experience is just as bad if not worse. What makes matters worse is the room prices more than doubled since my last visit. I suppose because of end of year activities (graduation, move out). However, this hotel is not deserving of anything more than the typical motel rates which hover around $100 a day because it is so filthy. Close proximity to campus alone does not make up for this. This hotel and the one across the parking lot (Hyatt) are owned by same company. However, the Hyatt is a slightly better maintained hotel with no kitchen, less dust, bed is way more comfortable and breakfast is good. Getting back to this review: The front desk staff and housekeeping are all very friendly and welcoming. The elevators take a really long time to reach lobby for some reason. The air handlers at end of hallways toward rooms ending in X00 is really, really loud, so try and stay in a room X07 or higher if you're a light sleeper; however, I cannot recommend staying here until they get new housekeeping staff and deep clean room including cleaning black dirt and/or dust around air return vents and replacing air filters in every room. I rented a king room. It is quite small. However, the desk is large and having a kitchen with refrigerator, countertop with padded bar stool chairs to eat, and a large desk is helpful if you're traveling for businesses and this is the only hotel you can find or you just really need to stay close to downtown Blacksburg. The desk chair is really hard…not for people with sciatica or suffering from pain in buttocks when sitting. The couches (both stays) had stains on them. The carpets had stains on them. The floor in kitchen had a spill that was not cleaned…looked like juice spill that was not wiped up and dried. The air returns (2) both have dark areas around them. Looks like dust or dirt. The room has more loose strands of hair in sink, toilet, shower than in hotels. I set AC temperature to 70 on a less than 70 degree day and the room st at 73-74 degrees until 11 pm when it finally dropped to 72 degrees. Horrible. The air on both settings (high and low) blows loud and hard moving dust around room at an alarming rate for folks with dust allergies. The bed is not very comfortable; I felt like I was sleeping on cardboard and body parts became numb. The feather pillows and/pillow cases are cheap; feathers poke through the pillow case on multiple pillows. Blackout curtains do not keep light out.

Located in the heart of Historic Downtown Blacksburg, Main Street Inn is a boutique hotel within walking distance to Virginia Tech and all sports facilities. Guests can enjoy dining, music, theater and shopping ... all a short stroll away. Amenities include free WiFi Internet, LEDTVs (2 per suite), refrigerator, microwave and coffee service. Location, location, location! Nice lobby area and easy to park. Lots of restaurants and shopping walking distance from the hotel. Lots of space in the room. We were near the balcony and it was pretty loud with people coming in and out but it didn't bother us too much. Would recommend asking for a room away from the balcony if sounds bother you.

Employees are a true pleasure I left a pair of silver earrings in my room and did not realize I left them until a days after I had stayed at the hotel. I called their front desk to ask if The earrings had been turned in and happily the cleaning woman found it turned into Lost and found. I received a call later that week from the staff at the courtyard to check if I hadreceived my earrings. I would highly recommend this lovely hotel to travelers. In addition to the remarkable customer service it is a lovely Hotel in a Beautiful area of Virginia. My sincere thanks, Jo Anne P

My wife and I have stayed at the Red Carpet Inn many times over the past 10 years while our daughters attended Virginia Tech. The modest property is safe and clean with a great and convenient location to campus and everything in Blacksburg. But the best feature is the outstanding service approach shown by the local owner, Harry, and his wife, Bina. His son is also a student at VT. They live on site and Harry always takes the time to ask how we are doing and to get updates on our family. I feel as if I've built a special friendship with him over the years. If there's anything he can do to make our stay more pleasurable, Harry does not hesitate to go the extra mile. In fact, one time we needed a ladder for a repair at our daughter's off-campus home and he readily let us borrow his (he even offered to come over to help!). In this day and age, it is difficult to find someone who really cares about guests the way Harry does. We recently had two rooms at Red Carpet for my daughter's graduation (and we paid far less than we would have at other hotels around town), and it was another great visit. We have been at Red Carpet on football weekends and for our many other fun trips to Blacksburg. If you are looking for a clean and safe property and want to support the local community, there is no better place to stay than the Red Carpet Inn!
