The Lemon Tree restaurant, just a few steps from the heart of Bishops Stortford is a Hertfordshire favourite. Set in an elegant Grade II listed Georgian Terrace, The Lemon Tree is a lively, relaxed eatery, created entirely by executive chef Luke Fishpool and his front of house wife Sue. The dining room makes the most of its historic setting, with beamed walls and ceilings, exposed brick fireplace, wooden floors and uncluttered wood tables and Seating. The well thought out modern British menu features the freshest quality ingredients and global influences, and Sunday lunch includes a proper British roast. Interesting, affordable wine list and parking nearby that ticks every box.
Booked Lunch at the Lemon Tree for a pre-Christmas visit to my mother-in-law, taking a family of 5 aged between 4 and 80-something. Menu choice was good, and we ordered a selection of 'nibbles' to see us through as we didn't want starters.
Great food - roast beef was particularly good. Desserts were great - especially the sticky toffee pudding.
Very good service, and a warm, comfortable environment; almost a bit 'old fashioned' in the best possible way - linen tablecloths and napkins etc. Would definitely go back...

If you are wild about Game, come and share your passion for good food and drink at Herts & Essex's only specialised Game restaurant based on the outskirts of Bishop's Stortford in the beautiful countryside. Seasonal menus, fresh British produce using local suppliers wherever possible. Our latest supplier is Hatfield Forest who will supply all our Venison.
Surprise Birthday friends and family dinner last night at the Mill and what a fantastic evening it was.
Richard was a great host, service attentive and prompt without being intrusive - no easy thing to strike that balance when you are, as we were, booked upstairs in their private dining room.
We were a group of 11 and I think everyone congratulated me on choice of venue. Its a bit off the beaten path - take careful note of the directions posted on their website, but well worth it.
Prices very reasonable for the quality and variety of dishes offered. There were no complaints from anyone in our group and we all left happy.
Thanks to Richard and staff for a fantastic night !

In the UK's Top 10 Thai Restaurants (Harden's Restaurant Guide 2015) our philosophy is simple - To serve you with an outstanding quality of authentic Thai cuisine complimented with fine wines a warm welcome and exceptional customer service.
We have not eaten here before and were sufficiently impressed by the reviews to give it a try. Although we had reserved a table, because the restaurant was very full we were taken upstairs to a smaller room which was their overflow area. Nice but with terrible acoustics and consequently it was hard to have any conversations at the table - not helped we would admit, by the noisiest group I have ever had the misfortune to sit next to which is not something the restaurant could do anything about.
Our first course arrived fairly quickly and then we had to wait over an hour for our main course to arrive. Staff were obviously stretched and were seldom there to check if we needed anything. When I wanted more water, I had to go to the upstairs unstaffed kitchen area and get it myself because no one ever appeared on the floor other than when they were bringing food orders.
In summary, the food was very nice but ...........

We booked here on a Saturday night before flying from Stansted early the following morning. Although we weren't locals we were made to feel very welcome and food coming out the kitchen for other diners smelt amazing.
The food we ordered came quickly but not too quick. The ribs were the tastiest I've had, very meaty and the chicken was spicy and seasoned perfectly. The wine was very good and we had just enough room for dessert which definitely didn't disappoint (the apple special is crispy and so buttery- try it while you can!).
All the staff were so friendly and with food this good I think we were lucky to get a table with only a couple of days notice. Next time we are down that way we will certainly be back for more.

Lovingly made family recipes served in our South Street restaurant in Bishop’s Stortford.Open throughout the day, we serve a hearty breakfast menu, a range of lunch dishes and our well-loved Afternoon Tea.The counter is always full of home-made cakes and goodies. You can even treat yourself to a cheeky glass of something as you savour the yummy food.
Arrived and the place was very busy but lucky for us a couple were leaving .Great choice of food if you only wanted a snack or meal.I chose the quiche with salad garnish and coleslaw very taste my mum had mac / cheese topped with tomatoes and a garnish. Coffees were nice as well .There was a great selection of cakes to die for .The service was very good staff very pleasant .While we were eating people were waiting in a queue for a table .Just shows you how popular this place is. On talking to a lady who has been many times before said its a great place to eat and socialize.

I can’t praise this restaurant enough.
The staff were attentive and knowledgeable and on their recommendation, I tasted the most delicious Indian (vegan) meal I’ve ever had.
The atmosphere was relaxed and the service outstanding. On top of all this, it was very reasonably priced.
A must if you’re ever in Bishop Stortford.

I have visited Rosey Leas several times and the food and service has been very good and plenty to choose for children too.
It has been said that the cafe needs proper ventilation which I would agree with as it is very very smokey inside from inadequate extraction and consequently your clothes will smell of cooking and food after any visit also the payment situation is a bit clumsy as you have to queue by a till where all the food is delivered from the kitchens so a lot of pushing and shoving goes on which must be frustrating for everyone involved other than that worth a visit .

We believe we have something for everyone and a few surprises thrown in to make it interesting! If you dont like shopping but the other half insists on bringing you along, you'll be fine at HOME&EAT .....leave them to shop whilst you hang out in our restaurant in front of the fire, a cup of tea or coffee and a read of the papers! Perfect compromise!Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon Tea, Loose Leaf Tea, Locally Roasted Coffee and Homemade cakesLook out for our evening events, Jazz Nights, Live Music
It's rare to come across such breakfast perfection, everything was good quality, well cooked and piping hot. So many places get the bacon wrong and produce that white foaming underdone stuff, whereas here it was perfectly cooked as was everything else. Good sausage. Hashbrowns better than any I've taste and too greasy.
Prompt friendly service.
My only criticisms are that the restaurant was a little chilly & the loo needs updating and smartening.

MORE THAN JUST A MENU... Cibo meaning 'food' in Italian, is a modern Italian Eatery and Pizzeria. We are an independent family owned Italian restaurant with a strong Sicilian influence. The main characteristic of our cuisine is simplicity... Our bread and pizza dough is made fresh on the premises daily using a combination of the finest Italian and Sicilian flour. In every dish that we create, we use only the finest ingredients sourced directly from Italy and our fresh vegetables, seafood and meats are delivered daily by local suppliers. All our food is made and served by a team of people who love cooking as well as eating and talking about it. We're passionate about our wine too and offer a great selection that compliments the menu. We are open all day for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just simply a refreshing drink. So come on in and experience the flavours and fun of our culture: honest cooking, top quality ingredients, friendly service and of course great Italian wines! BUON APPETITO!
