On December 16th at 19:35, we attended the Spice Lounge, 15 Fore Bondgate Bishop Auckland.
This was a party of eight and we were celebration the birthday of one of our guests.
Food and drinks were ordered and drinks were served.
An additional two pints of beer were ordered and when delivered, the waitress stumbled, depositing one entire glass on a customer, the other glass hitting the floor, projection broken glass and beer well under the table and onto other seated guests.
The broken glass was swept up and paper laid on the floor to absorb the fluid.
The food was served and was as usual very good.
The bill arrived without any apology for the embarrassment, inconvenience and trauma caused by the incident as well as no compensation.
When questioned, we were told it was our fault.
On closer examination, the beer glasses had to be tipped well away from the table for glass and fluid to be projected that far underneath both tables. If contact had occurred with a seated customer, it would have fallen on the table and customer in question.
No CSI in the country would find otherwise nor conclude differently.
This was not a group of scammers looking for a free meal. We are all professionals in the fields of health and education.
To be treated in this embarrassing manner is unacceptable and not the expected behaviour of a restaurant of this calibre.
We are greatly disappointed in how we were treated by this establishment.

Ordered on Saturday night... Delivery was quick.
Ordered two chicken Shashliks which were lovely but noticeably amount of oil in the sauce.
Its meant to be one of the healthy alternatives at a indian. Saturating it in oil isn't healty.
Pickle tray, the dips didnt get ate disappointing effort.
Would try again
Just ask for less oil and no pickle tray.

We live quite close and are therefore are frequent visitors.
Traditionally a great food pub, arguably the best in Bishop Auckland, nice pub, nice restaurant area, nice staff and good simple food at very competitive prices.
It seems to me that the place has gone backwards over recent months and possibly they are trying to compensate by giving ridiculously large portions.
It is a complaint we have heard from other patrons and it's a shame.

Our Saturday breakfast hunt this week took us up to the 68 cafe at (windy) Toft Hill. Superb views even on a cold, windy and drizzly day. Friendly, warm welcome to a lovely place, clean, bright a really nicely decorated. The 'Big Breakfast' was superb, quality ingredients well cooked and presented. At just under £19 for two including tea for two this was good value for money.
One small observation. The tables all have glass tops which is fine however I found myself chasing my plate round the table when trying to cut my bacon. Perhaps a cork table mat?

My partner and I visit this cafe frequently, I'm shocked I've never left a review yet! It's a cute little place, I love parking up and walking around seeing the animals about including the baby cows and pigs - very cute. Sometimes have a wander around the shop too which is very nice - have had some sausages and a few homemade cakes from there which have all been very nice. Also had a taster of their meat over last Christmas which was delicious. Never had a bad meal here - can recommend the corned beef pie and mince and dumpling. Portions are very filling so don't expect to need to eat anything else for the rest of the day! If you get a chance to have a meal with their chips do go for that, they are very very nice. Also tried many desserts here and can recommend any cheesecake on offer as they are all delicious! We'll be back as usual!

Not just fish and chip's but a full carvery/grill ,pastas salads Curry's
Walking along Bishop Auckland's Main Street, we saw what we thought was a fish and chip shop, took a look through the window and noticed people with Sunday Dinners, so we decided to investigate, we were greeted immediately by friendly staff, the gentleman who sliced the meat is a real charmer! On offer at the carvery was beef, pork, Turkey or ham, followed by mashed and roast potatoes, carrots, peas, turnip and cabbage, and some very tasty gravy. There was also an enormous yorkie. All this plus tea and coffee for two came to less than £14, the food was tasty and delicious, we will be back next time we are in Bishop Auckland, well done to all.
