It has been said that Birmingham is the last major Southern city in America, where a friendly "How y'all doin'," a hearty meal of country-fried steak with butter beans and a true taste of Southern hospitality await visitors. Whether you're into the history of the Civil Rights movement, a fan of jazz music or just looking for culture and a few fun activities for the family, Sweet Birmingham is the place for you. Spend the morning at the Birmingham Museum of Art, then have lunch at a traditional Southern tea room. Outdoor enthusiasts can tee off at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail or pack a lunch and spend the day hiking and enjoying the vistas at Ruffner Mountain. A world-class zoo, the innovative McWane Center and VisionLand, Alabama's first amusement park, are sure to keep families entertained and on the go. In the evening, listen to a blues show at an outdoor cafe and then spend the night at a small cozy inn or splurge for an elegant hotel.

My son and I were in Birmingham for twelve days for sensory therapy. We stayed at the Grandville Drury Inn. The entire staff was fantastic and friendly. They serve both breakfast and supper. Both meals were excellent, and the coffee is good. The hotel is exceptionally clean and well-kept.

We stayed in Birmingham to shop and attend a 65th birthday party for a dear friend. Our daughter suggested several hotels in the city and chose the Redmond. Could not have been happier with our choice. First of all, we must compliment the staff who were must helpful with walking directions to nearby restaurants, a welcoming smile from every staff member we met, and great service. The breakfast we had both mornings were great and reasonably priced. The Roof Top bar had a great view of the eclectic skyline of Birmingham.

The Hyatt made it less painful when a pothole on I-65 took out one of my tires on our way home to Dothan. They found us a room and Ms. Mary at the front desk allowed a late checkout so out repairs could be completed. Then Antoinne Longmire really helped us out. He saw that we looked like we needed help and offered my children and I a ride to the repair shop to pick up our car. He helped with our luggage and shared an inspiring personal story. Just what we needed. Here is a pic of him with my son. What a great guy!

Amenities say restaurant and bar. There is no restaurant, and the bar closes for the night when it feels like it. I tried to get a drink on Saturday night but the bar was closed by 7:55pm. I asked a staff member if I could get a drink and he said “no, the bar is closed”, and that was that. Check-in offered no information on breakfast or any other amenities. Room is good, clean, and comfortable, but the hotel overall is just a poor wrapper for good rooms.

Wonderful stay. Pool could be cleaner. Great breakfast. Nice and attentive staff. Maybe offer two meets at breakfast and two waffle makers instead of one. Room was nice but our TV had sound only on certain channels.

Leeshaun & Tiffana were absolutely excellent to us! It is very hard to find good customer service nowadays, but they went above and beyond. They took very good care of my elderly parents and me being a diabetic. I now consider them friends. The room was nice and we appreciate the hotel being pet friendly, but it was aggravating only having one elevator working, no wash cloths at times and having to ask multiple times for room service items. Also wish the pool would have been working and there were no chairs to lay out and in the courtyard. And, the breakfast was cold and the toaster did not work well. For the price we paid for the room I would have expected all of this to be working and correct.
