Reviews on Asian food in Bhutan, Bhutan. Remote Bhutan first allowed the world a peek inside in 1974. With four millennia of habitation, the Himalayan kingdom offers a trove of archaeological treasures, including many ornate temples and dzong fortresses. Isolation has preserved the heavily Buddhist-influenced culture of the last Shangri-La.

My groups like many of the restaurants I bring them to, but this one they always tell me is the best food they've eaten in Thimphu. I agree. The food is Bhutanese with a modern twist, though some items are wholly Bhutanese, just very well executed. The restaurant is attractive and the staff friendly located above downtown, though easy to reach.

Here in Thimpu a group of 14 hungry seniors travelling from Gurgaon in India stopped over for lunch on a summer afternoon. The restaurant was very busy but manager assured us one large table for all. This place is well managed by only ladies, the service is fast, food was all local with chilly cheese ,chicken & dishes of fish. The toilet is clean despite the rush time

I have experienced a lot of Bhutanese cuisine during my visits but it was a great experience to experience it within a traditional house setting. The food was good quality and a very nice ambiance. You sometimes get taken to some tourist route restaurants in Bhutan, where buffets are set up to cater for tourist groups. This is different and has a real nice feel to it.

A pit stop while you are travelling out of Thimpu or entering Thimpu. The restaurant serves good food and also provides stunning view of snow peaks.

Located in a peaceful environment, we offer a variety of dishes including traditional Bhutanese meals and also have provision for outdoor barbecue and cultural programs.
This is quite smart restaurant in the middle of the city. The decor is very neat and tidy and thre is a pleasant and friendly feel about the place. I noticed that there were locals eating there, not just foreigners, which is aleways a good sign. The service was very good, friendly and helpful. The food was a mixture of local and other more westernised dishes. Everything we had was tasty and really enjoyable.Prices were reasonable for a good quality place.Well reommended.

unless you sit by the two fireplaces. the place was amazing and surrounded by trees. food was very good and the pastries were excellent over christmas. but when we returned after christmas quality went down a little (and pastries went down considerably?), not sure why. service was all good. must try its range of beers. if they could warm up the place a little in the winter, it would be perfect.

There a hotel also with name Sonam Trophel but restaurant is different at different location. The restaurant is on the main street on your right hand side if you are driving up,The Hotel is a little above the junction towards the bridge.the restaurant is
Watch out for this family run restaurant on the main street of Paro. It is very easy to miss as it is on the first floor level. The boneless chicken with burnt garlic rice is one of their signature dishes. The pork and chicken momo's are among the best we've had. The Hentsey Datshi (spinach in cheese and chilly) too was delicious. I would very strongly recommend this cozy restaurant for anyone looking for tasty local food. The owner herself gave us helpful suggestions in deciding our menu.

Located In the heart of town. Easily reachable, and good food. Will love any food from the menu you pick. Enjoy eating at our place ...
Like all tourists on family holidays, we were looking for a place to eat where all could get what they want (we all had a different idea of what we wanted to eat) finally deciding on chinese, we zeroed in on Zombala. Their soup is almost excellent !!! chicken manchow is delicious. They serve the best God damn momos around. I had to settle for the cheese momos as they don't serve chicken momos for some reasons. The chinese was very good and we were lucky to get a table, its generally crowded. The service is good as well, very friendly and smiling staff. their homemade chilly sauce is a must try . They store it in the soft drink refrigerator and hence is recycled but at least stored hygienically. Its priced reasonable as well, so all in all, a very good place. A window seat table will ensure you get a very good view of the market around . The hotel is on the 1st floor and overlooks a four road junction. If youre lucky, you'll see a traffic cop who 'dances' and conducts the traffic!! i'll upload a video subsequently. Zombala 2 is a must try. highly recommended !!!!!!

Best Pizza place in whole Paro town with separate kitchen for veg and non-veg pizza. This is the only place where you get gene food option.
Bhutanese buffets are marginal at first and utterly revolting after 20 straight meals. Red rice, tough stir fried meats of questionable provenance, overcooked veggies, and no seasoning make for a great weight loss plan but the tasteless fare becomes edible sadness after a few meals. And for some reason these buffets seem to be the only thing hotels or tour guides want you to eat. Authentic Pizza is a glorious exception. It is a gem, a jewel, and a true deliverance from the tasteless bland Hell that are Bhutanese buffets. Great service, good pizza, cold beer and MEAT and CHEESE and other favorite toppings are here in profusion. I highly recommend this place. I will probably eat there tonight again. Thank you for Lovely review and visiting us. I'm glad u enjoyed our Authentic Pizza. The main reason why we started pizzeria is to give some food choice as we dont have much option when it comes to food variety in Bhutan.
