We heard about this place through trip advisor and certainly got interested after all the positive reviews from previous guests. I can only say, this place was a nice get away from the daily activities and offered a quiet, romantic dinner with wine tasting. For a winery, we expected a little better wines (not bad though) but what was truly outstanding was the cooking and the different local dishes we were offered. Truly amazing! Must see if you like the local experience...! Book in advance since they do daily shopping based on orders only ;-)

Osteria with Traditional Tuscan Cuisine, with some Plate of Sea of ââthe Tyrrhenian Sea. Wide choice of Wines. Wines at Chalice. Slow Food Products.
There are lots of little restaurants that serve pasta, fish, or meat in this area. But none are quite like Oste Scuro, with its limited menu and very personal attention. We have a home in the area and have been to them all, but reserve Oste Scuro for special occasions or when we want to particularly delight our palate. The cuisine, as others have noted, is "Tuscan revisited", using local ingredients for the most part, or very particular items imported from other areas of Italy. The dishes are never standard combinations, though they usually work well. Everything is prepared on the spot, so alterations are possible, and the wait is leisurely, but timing/allignment between servings is perfect. For a family dinner for 14 on Ferragosto (italy's big midsummer holiday) we reserved five days in advance and planned a menu with the owners, who procured fresh fish. We will never forget this delicious meal because it lived up to the standards of the family elders, whose cooking really cannot be beaten. We had paccheri allo scorfano (dragonfish) with mini tomatoes that was divine, grilled giant shrimp, and a 4 kilo branzino fished for the occasion (not to mention various appetizers, sides, dessert and coffee), plus wine and water, and paid 45 euros a person. Very reasonable.NB that it's also "Slow Food", the only one in the area to receive the highest of cheese and wine recognition from that association.

Really, five stars are not enough. The beauty of the surroundings as you gaze at the magnificent 4,000 year old wall are matched by the incredible flavor of the cuisine. The restaurant is out in the country, but easy to find adjacent to the Etruscan ruins. And a welcoming glass of Prosecco is a nice way to begin a stroll through the menu which was all reasonableTry the house antipasti, 5 delicious items on one plate, each totally unexpected and delicious. My wife and I normally share an appetizer, but not this night and we both cleaned our plates. My wife had the ravioli with pears and I had the pasta with caramelized onions, both were hand made, cooked perfectly al dente and each sauce had a richness and depth of flavor. For dessert we shared the chocolate mousse with strawberry sauce. WOW says it all!The wine list is mostly of the Maremma and reasonably priced, with detailed descriptions. Both the inside dinning room and the outside covered deck are lovely spaces. The grounds surrounding the restaurant are also lovely. This will be a return again and again restaurant.

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat nothing to write home about but the owner spoke English which was helpful. Had the lasagne, salad and quite tasty wild boar with beans couple of waters, wine and beer came to 52 euro.
