Some french colleagues of a friend of mine living in Nantes brought us there after kayaking on the Sèvre river (so hungry!) you could choose one of the two appetizers-au gratin razor shells or smoked salmon in a pea sauce (I took the second one, very good)-and one of the two main courses- rosted veal with a sweet sauce (great) and steamed seabream with a cuttlefish tomato sauce. Big wine menu (we tried a red and a white one, very good), good sweets too.the owner and his wife were very nice and friendly.we paied around 45 euros each...a bit too much!good place!

My partner and were passing through Nantes on our trip through France. On our walk through the historic Rue Kervègan we came across a cute little brasserie à Cantina Nantes. We sat down and were immediately produced with a board of daily specials that all sounded very nice, but we decided to stick to the 20⬠three course lunch menu. The food was typically French fare with a little Italian influence! My beef carpaccio with pesto was as fresh as it could be! Our mains were just as tasty and prepared with simple elegance. Dessert featured a delicious warm chocolate cake with fresh cream and raspberry sauce. The staff were all charming and helpful. For those intrepid english speaking travellers, such as ourselves, it was to good to find some where we felt welcome and comfortable, as some of them spoke English. A small bar in the other half of the restaurant also offered little treats, such as foie gras croquettes, we discovered! This family run bistro in the centre of this crazy little town was a little gem in a sea of pebbles! Highly recommend this place, if you are ever in Nantes, make sure you get there!
