Tasting room and Cellar door for Poppies Martinborough Wines. We believe wine should be shared with food and occasion so from this we serve a fresh seasonal vineyard platter for lunch with the theory being something on the platter will match and enhance o
In the weeks leading up to our holiday I made a reservation by phone for a Saturday lunch at Poppies Martinborough, we were booked in for the 2pm sitting. This vineyard was very atmospheric on arrival, the front courtyard was full of guests, inside was much the same, tasting bar on the right was full, to the left there were a few tables spare in the restaurant, this place was live. Our waiter lead us to our table inside, settled us in with menus and the process for lunch, this started with tasting a range of wines at the cellar bar. We were served by Poppies husband, he got things rolling, he was friendly and informative, I lost track of how many wines we tasted; 6-8 maybe. This experience was cosy, atmospheric and relaxing, all the while enjoying the company of the others in our small group of wine tasters.Once back at our table we ordered wine by the glass, one which we enjoyed at the tasting and one which we thought might complement the upcoming food platter. The menu is limited offering only a share platter and a short list of desserts, the platter included a variety of ingredients: Pork belly, dolmades, smoked salmon, olive tapenade, spicy tomato relish, frittata, wedges of soft cheese, grilled vege, marinated mushrooms and more. Accompanying bread or biscuits is not included but as a separate order. The platter was sufficient for lunch, while we did not have dessert there was just a little space left for it.We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and wine tasting experience at Poppies, staff were friendly and appeared to love what they do. Highly recommend.

Called in for lunch on a day that was looking like being a bit wet and windy. Inside is very comfortable and warm, the host is very friendly and obliging, and the wine and wine tasting well handled. We had a light lunch and a glass or two of wine - the dessert wine as part of the tasting was given at the end of our lunch which was a nice touch. Enjoyable and would recommend

Mesita (Spanish; = small table) Tucked away in a secluded corner of Martinborough you'll find Mesita! Offering great wine, food and candlelit ambience. We serve an array of local Martinborough wines, tasting flights and some special international addition
We stopped in for dinner the eve before Toast Martinborough. It was early so they weren't too busy yet. They don't have many items on their menu, so they are certainly good at making those. We had the Torta, marinated steak sandwich, prawn taco, brocollini, chips and salsa. We also had a tasting flight of matching wines. The food was spicy and very tasty. I don't like food that's too hot and this was perfect. The pairing with the wines went really well. We only wish we lived closer, or they'd open in our town. Go and try it. You won't be disappointed.

Hot day, with many people outside, only a few tables seated inside, including us. Staff were friendly and welcoming. My mum is vegetarian and we asked if the meat platter (no vege option) could have the meat replaced with some extra vegetarian options, happy to pay normal price. They said that they do not modify any platters. Plus, our first option was Parkvale mushrooms on toast - they had no mushrooms. We did order the meat platter - it was okay - small amounts of each item. It was not the experience that had been recommended to us.
