Reviews on Wine Bar food in Ivrea, Province of Turin, Italy. Ivrea (Italian pronunciation: [iˈvrɛːa]; French: Ivrée, Latin: Eporedia) is a town and comune of the Metropolitan City of Turin in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy. Situated on the road leading to the Aosta Valley (part of the medieval Via Francigena), it straddles the Dora Baltea and is regarded as the centre of the Canavese area. Ivrea lies in a basin that in prehistoric times formed a large lake. Today five smaller lakes — Sirio, San Michele, Pistono, Nero and Campagna — are found in the area around the town.

We were in a group of 20 friends (I was the only non-Italian), and we're all disappointed with the 'so called meal' and the price of 35euro per person and not everybody was drinking wine. The owner kept cracking open bottles and said he would charge reasonably by the glass. To our surprise at the end, we split the bill, with a consequence of 35euro per person.Yes ok the wine is good (not amazing) for the price. But... You are in Italy and both the quantity and quality of the meal was ridiculously average. In Italy, you live to eat, not starve and overpay. This zone is a second home to me and there are so many fantastic places to wine and dine... Having said that, my mother in law has been with friends more recently and she ate well and it was 15euro per person... And for her fussy self I have to believe it. So perhaps you can have a good experience. Unless it was paid for, I wouldn't return again.

The enthusiastic proprietor couldn't have been more friendly. I didn't eat, although lots of people were outside on the river-front tables, but tasted and bought some wine from the (very agreeable in August) temperature controlled wine room. The selection is some 300 labels, mostly Italian with interesting local choices and a good number available by the glass as well.
