So far, there were only reviews in Italian. My American friends.... do not miss this restaurant if youâre anywhere close to Asolo. It is located down in the alley off the plaza and opens at 7 oâclock at night. We are lucky to travel to many foreign countries and eat really great foods. We live in the northern California wine country and a frequent several spectacular restaurants there in Sonoma and Napa County. This one caught us off guard and blew us away.We started with a delicious shrimp dish that sat on the base of Farro and guanciale. However, the highlights for the evening was their freshly baked bread (with curry butter) and a dish of eggs. Somehow they took the egg whites and frothed them, drizzled them with egg yolks and finished the dish with freshly shaved white truffles from Alba. This was all washed out with five glasses of great regional wines. The big surprise⦠This entire experience cost us â¬72. Both our server who we nicknamed âEl Guapoâ and the owner were very attentive to our table. This is one of the best meals in our memory for that price. Trust us on this one...youâll thank us later.

The enoteca is well situated, just off the main square. We did not eat there, but there was an extensive selection of regional wines available by the glass. The tasting area was cozy and our glasses leaned precipitously as they sat on our table, but the overall experience was great.

Some of you may have noted my recent absence in writing reviews in English for families travelling in the Veneto and in Italy in general. I am back in the saddle and so must share a recent experience. At the Marian shrine of Cendrole beloved by Saint Pope Pius X, directly across the street is a "wine cellar producer" which in the dialect is Caneva, hence the name of the trattoria. In early May for lunch I took my son and a cousin to eat there. The food was excellent value as follows: bread, linen service, mineral or plain bottled water, wine (Cabernet Franc local), first plate, second plate, vegetable side dish, coffee and desert for 15 Euros a head. The first dishes were a choice of vegetable sauce fusilli, Bolognese pasta, lasagne... The second dishes included a fantastic rabbit stew with polenta... The vegetable side dish of cornet beans was one amongst many. I love being able to have vegetables as a side compared to ordinary salads restaurants are wont to provide. Dessert anyone? Oink, oink! Home made tiramisu', strawberry cheesecake... The kids can run around outside on the shrine's grounds while the parents rest their stomachs.

It's very good because it's great fun! Set in the heart of the town, it oversees all that goes on and is patronised by young and old alike. Nobody hurries you to eat up or leave. The ice creams are splendid; the coffee good; the cocktails better. It is all wonderfully cheap and the buzz is infectious.
