The Restaurant at the Royal Ship Hotel offers a great range of freshly prepared meals using local ingredients wherever possible. Our extensive menu offers something for everyone.
The location is great, nice big venue lots of choice of somewhere to sit and lots of choice on the menu, service fast and friendly. Food was fine, nothing special averagely priced and inoffensive. Not much choice in dolgellau so would go again

At The Gatehouse Steakhouse we offer a unique and none pretentious Steakhouse Experience, bringing out the very best in Local Welsh Produce. All of our Meats/Poultry and Fish dishes are cooked over our state-of-the-art Chargrill for that fantastic smokey
Similar to previous reviews from Monday 23rd October we could not get the Monday Rib Eye deal as advertised. We booked our table because the deal was advertised in the window. This restaurant has a poor standard of management, this means that if people are not happy with their offer they cause an argument and resort to personal insults rather than seek a pragmatic resolution. When I was disappointed with my meal and the experience of my friends I was met by a manager wearing a tracksuit (covered in dog hair), he was a polite chap but did not resolve how disappointed we felt after spending £30 per head including children. When I have seen management responses to other complaints they respect the immaturity that I experienced. I am a long standing member of tripadvisor. providing pragmatic and measured reflection of my experience. I fully expect this review to be followed up by a defensive and inexperienced management response..... good luck to them as I donât think their business will last and I couldnât recommend this to future hungry folk in Dolgellau.

Family run village pub and a shop for your essentials home cooked food locally sourced with a warm welcome to all
Went here on a recommendation from the campsite owner. Glad that we followed it up on our last night of camping in the area. Food was amazing, especially the lamb shank and lamb Henry. Portion sizes for kids burgers were more than enough for an 11 & 12 year old who were more than a little bit hungry after a long walk and playing on the water in a kayak! Best garlic bread Iâve had in a long time. Deserts were delicious. Staff friendly and food came quite quickly.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch sitting on the terrace looking out over the estuary to Cader Idris and the surrounding hills. Good use of local food cooked to the highest standard and beautifully presented. Lovely friendly front of house staff. We will certainly return. Thank you.

The Torrent boasts its fantastic range of both local and guest ales and ciders and can be found in cam's good beer guide 2016.
Dropped in for a drink as we were waiting for the chippy to open. Passing through on a very long journey home. Cricket was on and food from the bar was fantastic. Company and friendliness of local patrons was even better. If we hadnât got 200 miles still to drive we would have stayed all evening. Will definitely be back despite the commute.

A fantastic Tea and Coffee House with the best cakes ever. Other reviews of Dolgellau B&B's mention it.
Visited on a few occasions when weâve been in Dolgellau and each time the food has been amazing. The first time I visited I had the chicken soup with homemade cheese scone. The soup was thick, comforting and delicious Cheese scone was fluffy and went well with itThis time I had the vegetable quiche. I asked if it was hot and it was. I like my quiches hot! It was a big slab of thick chunky roast veggies in a creamy pastry tart and a large salad and coleslaw Amazing. So full but managed to share a homemade hummingbird cake for aftersDog friendly which is great. Luna our Labrador was very accommodating by hoovering up the crumbs Didnât realise that there was a huge floor upstairs as well with comfy settees so you donât need to squeeze yourself downstairs Maybe that could be better explained on the signage going upstairs Friendly, helpful staff Well done

Y Meirionnydd Townhouse is a great restaurant and bar in the centre of Dolgellau. What was the original old County jailhouse has been skilfully converted into a contemporary, stylish and yet cosy restaurant serving traditional British dishes with a Welsh
What a delightful meal and whole experience we had eating here. The two staff on duty were superb at their job, the perfect hosts and advisors. They had the natural, relaxed and friendly skills which showed their considerable experience and enjoyment of their jobs. The food was excellent too. My Summer Pea Soup was light and delicious and gave me inspiration for my own cooking. My wife's Smoked Salmon with yoghurt and blinis was very much enjoyed. We both had the Rump of Lamb with Potato Rosti, cooked precisely to meet our very different tastes. Beautiful Lamb, perfectly flavoured. Puddings were fine but the whole meal was a very enjoyable event.

Stopped at this attractive and modern bar/restaurant by accident after taking the wrong road. Lucky for us! Both of us had skipped breakfast, so around 10:30 we thought letâs try this place. Breakfasts are served 8-11am daily and what a treat! We went for the full cooked breakfast as it had laver bread which neither of us had tried before. Toast, beans, black pudding, egg, mushrooms, tomorrow, sausage and bacon; all cooked to order and served on a hot plate. Brilliant. Possibly the best cooked breakfast I can remember eating. 10/10.

The food is excellent. We ate cod goujons with garlic dip and salad and creamy garlic mushrooms on toast for starters. Followed by slow roast stuffed belly pork on roasted vegetables and chicken with leek and cream sauce on a bed of crushed potatoes. All served with fresh vegetables. We had no room for dessert...! Excellent food, well presented and efficient friendly service. Good wine list. It was Bank Holiday and very busy I advise you book. Good value. Great after a day at the coast.
