Discover Restaurants offering the best Turkish food in Sudbury, Babergh District, England. Sudbury is a historic market town in Suffolk, one of the largest counties of England in East Anglia. Sudbury itself is worth exploring on foot, a small family friendly town with a shopping area (mostly full of chain shops but with a few great local shops), and a few good bars and restaurants. Fans of art history will be pleased to discover the house of Thomas Gainsborough on the appropriately named Gainsborough Street at the bottom of Market Hill, and book lovers may be amused by the plaque at St Peter's Church which acknowledges the fact that the town was referenced in Dodie Smith's classic 101 Dalmations.

Alaz is an independent restaurant serving traditional Turkish cuisine.
Great atmosphere, very friendly and intimate-feeling (not a huge dining hall). We did not have starters. I had shishkebab (called sish on the menu) and it was excellent. The winner of the evening was probably the flame-grilled sea bass, and the stewed meat with pomegranate will probably be my next choice when we go back. Either that, or that lovely fish. Great Turkish wine (who knew?). I am not keen on rice cooked in tomato sauce, which is my only reason for a 4, but they made substitutions for someone at my table, so I will check that next time.PS there is a large parking lot behind, which is great given the dearth of on-street parking on this corner.

I tried out Lydia on a weeknight to see what it was like and we werenât disappointed but it wasnât the best. You do get free bread and a couple drops which is a nice touch but we did feel like the dips could be improved and the olives we ordered for starter were quite mushy. For our mains, we opted for the mixed kebab and grilled salmon, the first with chips and the second without. I do have to mention that the portions are huge, which is great if youâre hungry but sometimes I feel like less is more. My friend thought that the mixed kebab was okay a, although it had been bulked out by the chips, which were okay but had definitely been frozen, and the ratio of meat to chips is a bit mad. The salmon was massive and well cooked but the rice was watery and the salad could have been improved - perhaps fresher and with a nicer dressing as opposed to a sort of oily residue. You get two pieces of free baklava at the end which is also a great touch! All in all itâs not a bad restaurant and good if youâre hungry and want to eat in town. Itâs great that thereâs fish options and veggie options to and I have the feeling the chef would be more than happy to swap things out for you.

If we are near Sudbury and fancy kebabs then this is where we go. Always have large mixed chicken with donna meat and chilli sauce. The chilli is nice and hot and a large is always more than enough. X large must be an absolute monster! Must try one day.
Fantastic chicken shish cooked succulently. The chicken shish xl is for the big boy appetite and I add £2 of doner too (served in a box). Home delivery when they say they will. Very reliable and friendly. Give it a try! Mixed and Combination kebabs good too!
