Went here for Iftar. The place was packed. Luckily we had friends there and we joined them at their table. Service very good. I ordered a doner kabab. It was okay. The Iskander kabab was better. The Iftar meal has a good spread. Worth the experience.

The cag kebab is a specialt yof Erzurum, and we were told that Koc is one of the bets places to have cag kebab. The restaurant serves mezes (side dishes) aside included in the menu, and these were all quite tasty. The cag kebab is served on skewers, and you can ask as many as you wish, or they can also keep bringing as you eat and finish. Koc is open until 9.30-10.00. I would not recommend the desserts though.

The name of the restaurant is labelled with meatballs (Kofteci) but you can find variety of delicious local foods from the local cuisine. For instance, a vegeterian casserole dish is very delicious, too. The restaurant is very spacious and clean. The decoration and the plafond are the piece of oriental/anatolian arts. You can find the variety of wood carving and paintings in the interior design of the restaurants. The staff is very friendly to reflect the typical hospitality of people in Erzurum. Since the restaurant is located in the core of historical buildings, you will have a very nice view from the restaurant. I strongly recommend you to make at least one visit to the restaurant Emirsheyh Koftecisi.

The only real reason to come here is the fact that you can have a drink with your meal. They serve lots of typical Turkish food, but nothing is outstanding. But that's ok--we come here often because of the atmosphere. They handle large groups very well, even writing separate checks. There is a wide variety of wine and beer available, but it's not cheap. Sometimes they have salmon on the menu, which is a treat in Erzurum. They do not serve the typical Erzurum kebaps, however. The appetizers are great, and the fruit plate is excellent. I would recommend this for special events--birthdays, parties, etc.

I know this place since my childhood and thoroughout the years I had chance several times to visit the restaurant. It's been present since 1960s. The only thing I can tell you that if you're in Erzurum, you SHOULD definitely and certainly try this restaurant. You will eat Doner Kebap and Cacik ( traditional cold souplike meal prepared with Turkish yoghurt and cucumber). Then as dessert you will eat Kadayif Dolma and drink Turkish tea. It'll be a perfect and delicious experience rahat you'll never forget. Do not try to search for Cag Kebap in Erzurum, just go to Hacibaba restaurant and take the courses that I advice you :)
