Find out what Turkish restaurants to try in Ashgabat. Nestled between the Kopet Dag range and the Kara Kum desert, Ashgabat is a flat, sometimes dusty city twinkling with unique architecture. As a marker of Turkmenistan's official neutrality, the city's most recognizable monument, the Neutrality Arch, rotates during the daylight hours, facing the sun throughout the entire day. The city is home to many mosques and markets, as well as important museums, including one memorializing the 1948 earthquake that decimated the population.

Solo Cafe is an appropriate place for any occasion, be it breakfast alone, lunch time and coffee with a couple or dinner and party with friends. On Sundays if i am not mistaken, they invite people to play role game named Mafia. They have a separate room for karaoke, where two or three separate tables could be placed separately or combined into one big. We had once coffee and some bakery there, which was good and tasty. Also we had a party in karaoke room (which was booked exclusively for us, its a plus, so you can sing and have fun only with your group). For that we ordered some snacks, pizzas, salads and soft drinks. Prices were normal as well as taste of dishes. Recommend this place to visit.

Uzum Cafe is determined to become a daily necessity for local visitors, a place to dream of as you try to escape the daily stresses of life and just a comfortable place to meet your friends, hold business meetings or to read a book, all in one.
A family restaurant run by a descendants of a popular painter of Turkmenistan. Inside is beautifully decorated and elegantly furnished. Restaurant is located next to Ak Altayn hotel in Ashgabat. We had lunch and dinner here during our stay in the hotel. There was a good mix of locals and foreigners. We had dinner, chicken and lamb curry as main dishes with some sides. Food was delicious. Service was good. Grand daughter of the painter explained to us about the family business. Prices were reasonable (45 manat/ dish). Large portions. In summary everything was perfect. Highly recommended.

As an American ex-pat, this is is my favorite place in Ashgabat to get a pizza. Service is friendly and fast, the pizza is fired in a brick oven while you watch. If you want an alcohol beverage, it can be very interesting-----the waiter usually has to go outside, run to the corner store, and buy your beer & run back to the restaurant. Slightly comical, but it somehow seems to add to the charm and exotic-ness of being in Ashgabat.
I was surprised how clean everything was here. You dont expect it from outside. The menue is rich and delicious. Every meal we tried was really delicious and we know the food from our home country. For this quality the rates are also moderate. I recommend this restaurant and wonder why it wasnt on the list before.

I visited Ashgabat on business in September 2014. I didn't know what to expect and didn't have time to research.I was very surprised. The city has been built over the last 5 years. The buildings are all new, all finished with marble which makes a fantastic view at night. Their ministry buildings are architected based on the sector they host (the ministry of education building has the form of a book, the ministry of foreign affair has a globe on top and the ministry of communications looks like a telephone). The people are friendly, although not too many people speak English, even business people. If you go for a meeting bring gifts with something where you come from, it is a tradition and if they visit you they will do the same.
Joshun Palow House is a cozy spot with very good traditional Turkmeni food (Plov, Shishylak, etc). The place looks to be relatively new and the staff was friendly and inviting. They have menus in English as well as Russian and the waitress we had spoke enough English for things to go smoothly. The food is fresh, tastes good, and is very filling. I tried the lentil soup to start and had the "Joshun" Palow (Beef, onions, carrots, dried fruits and, of course, rice). The total for the soup, plov, and a 1L bottle of Coke was just 40 manat, which is very reasonable. I strongly recommend this place if you are visiting Ashgabat and would like to try some of the traditional Turkmen food in a comfortable setting.

This is one of the favorite place for local residents to have nice Turkish doner kebab and Turkish lamp stakes. The place also services Turkish pizzas "pide" and "lahmacun" . Very quick and attentive staff. The restaurant is located on the third floor of Berkarar Mall.

Set in a shopping centre alongside other food outlets this was another restaurant that offered excellent food. Once again the service was extremely friendly and the staff were keen to ensure that dining there was an enjoyable experience. The food was beautifully prepared and presented and was flavoursome. It was good value and well worth the visit.

Our group was brought to this yurt-type restaurant with Hezzet over its entry, after arriving in Ashgabat's New "white marble clad" city. We were escorted to one of the six yurts, took off our shoes, and gathered around the low circular tables. The waiter distributed an electronic picture menu and with our guide's help, we all ordered. With the wall TV showing musicians playing the 2 & 3 string Du tar, we all dined on bread, soup, salad, and chicken plov. The waiters were attentive, the traditional food was delicious, and the small bill made this a true value meal.

The best barbeque restaurant in turkmenistan Always fresh and taste foods
Located near to the city center, this restaurant provides a nice atmosphere and you can have fun taking to your friends (the place is quite enough) whilst enjoing your meat and vegetables being grilled on your own table. I recommend to also try their mushrooms with cheese, when grilled they are so tasty... The service is good and the waiters are friendly. Don't drink wine, it's too expensive, beer or vodka are my suggestions.
