I ordered the âSeafood Trio in Bisque Sauce,â which was pan seared salmon filet, prawns, pork and shrimp wontons, served on a bed of garlic seasoned noodles with a seafood bisque flavor. This meal was excellent. I absolutely loved it. And it was very much unlike any meal I have eaten at other restaurants. Congratulations to the chef and owner. I was tempted to order an interesting appetizer and soup as my entire meal (mushroom tartelette and American Wagyu Pho soup simmered for 10 hours!); perhaps during my next visit. The waitress was very helpful in explaining each offering on the menu about which I asked. The menu choices are quite different than most restaurants so I needed help to understand. The owner is polite and cordial. I think Elyse is one of the very best restaurants in San Jose and the whole of the South Bay. The interior is quite attractive, classy, but not overstated. Customers will fit in if they are dressed up or if they are casual. My personal recommendation is not to wear shorts, but that is my idea, not the ownerâs. This is also a restaurant to which I would not bring little kids. The night I had dinner, Elyse played background music that was perfect for the setting and not very loud so it was easy to have private conversations with your dining partners. Elyse serves only dinner starting at 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.Parking is either street or structure; however the VTA light rail stops right in front of Elyse so think about that option.

This is probably the most authentic Thai food we have had in Northern California, and we've tried many! The honored our request to mince the chicken for the pad kaprow (like in Thailand) and made the dishes Thai-spicy.The place is very small and they cram lots of tables in, and it is a bit overpriced (especially the rice, which should be cheap if not free with an entree!)

Krung Thai in San Jose and Palo Alto are the best Thai places in the South Bay. Spiced down for American palates, but can get spicier if you ask. Great selection for gluten-free folks, no onions folks, no soy sauce folk. Delightful offerings of the usual--satays, phad thai, spicy/sour or coconut milk-based soups, basil/chili anything.
