Things to do in Lop Buri
I have been to the Matini a few times with work friends and by myself. Such a nice place to relax on a lazy Sunday afternoon, listening to classic sixty's music in the the background while enjoying traditional Thai food lovingly cooked by the owner who goes by the name "T" always a pleasant smile and a happy to see you again.Watch the world go buy in old lopburi Town a must for your bucket list .
We found this neighborhood cafe in Lopburi accidentally on the road trip heading around temples. Its location is in the central in a few driveway distance. We were greeted cheerfully and friendly by a cafe owner. The coffee and homemade juice (fresh orange juice) are superb. Good place for us taking a break to relax awhile for drinks.I strongly recommend you guys to hop this cafe if you are in the central areas visiting temples/historical places. I also love the industrial design of this tiny and cozy block here.Taste beyond expectation. Be back again for sure!
10 out of 10 absolutely the best cafe in Lopburi, varieties of coffee, healthy and organic food without greasy feeling, minimalist deco style, clean, harmony. The owners know how to do a good and detailed coffees, taste is the best in town, yes they can speak English and full of service mind.Parking available, reasonable price.Closes on Sunday.Must go if you are a true coffee drinker who look for a real coffee after spending sometime in daylight in Lopburi.
A new building- sit down restaurant-- first lacking paper napkins- in silverware setup. pasta dishes flavored the Thai way-- spicy-- large singha beers--very attentive staff /waitresses. Trailer out front for the pizza-- took longer than the other dishes to prepare-- wood fire pizza- 4-6 min is tops it should take if deck is 800F - roof is 1000F. pizza decent crust y dough good- basic red sauce-- again made rest style-- sauce first cheese 2nd. real pepperoni!!! thick cut y small diameter issue with red pepper flakes-- cayanne powder /dust in a shaker. Oregano was again in a shaker== Would go back and try other things on the menu-- worth the visit for the service alone!Waiter told me bathroom was out back around to the right-- womens handicap ONLY-- bathrooms were in an outside/seperate building-- new y clean but had to search???why????
English/ Thai menu but limited English spoken. Pleasant manner and tasty, reasonably cheap Thai (mainly) food. Five (I think) vegan options. I went there twice and would go again. Food, smoothies, coffee, cake and alcohol served. The menu came with an English warning about you get what you read on the menu; the menu seemed quite self explanatory so I'm not sure of the reasoning behind that. Anyway, if you're unsure (veggie, vegan etc) then just use Google translate to avoid any confusion (they have free wifi).Enjoy!
This is really a floating restaurant on the raft on Lopburi River. Beautiful setting of trees and a few local house. I came here on Monday night between 7-9 pm. There were customer 7 tables all together on the big raft, so it was very pleasant and comfi as it was not crowed. You can really relax among the nature over look the serene Lopburi River. The recommended menu is Pla-Chon- Mung -Ming, a deep fried Snakehead (fish) served with papaya salad. But I did not order it because I just have had same kind of dish at lunch today. So I switch to Spicy deep fried Giant Gouramy instead. For soup we had Tom- klong Pla Kung, kind of Tomyum but more spicy such as Kuffir leaf, Shallot, Gallants were added; and Pla Kung is local variety of Catfish which considered to be gourmet dish. Lastly we I ordered Nam-pri_ Long-rue, Thai style chilies paste come with a set of broiled vegetables and 2 steamed rice. It cost us 700 baht or $US 20 for 2 persons with 3 dishes. Recommended. But you have to have your own transportation as the restaurant is hide in a small lane a bit distance from main road which has no public transportation. Parking space available for around 8-10 cars.

Run by the friendly Budsaba, this restaurant offers traditional Thai food at local prices."Taco Tuesdays" are particularly popular and there are barbecue skewers every Friday night. Laid back and a good spot to meet local expats and find out more about th
Budsi's Place is my favourite place in Lopburi to eat and hang out. The food is great and the people who run the place are fantastic. The food is really good value, market prices for a lot of meals and they've some extra special meals at half the price of anywhere else like their Chicken Cashew Nut. The Massaman is great, loaded with potatoes and chicken. If you're really hungry the Fat Paul Special is wonderful value, double meat and double vegetable for a few more baht (ask why it's called the fat paul)... If you are hungry Budsi's place is just a great place to hang out and have a beer and have the craic... Friday nights are great there.. The people who run it are super chill and really helpful if you need info about Lopburi, getting around, things to do and Thailand in general... There's a good book exchange also... Anyway visit Budsi's, it's brilliant (think I might have mentioned that before)... Check out Taco Tuesday and BBQ Friday - if the BBQ still happens the ribs are delicious.. The very best wishes from Ireland to all in Budsi's... :)

We chose to go to Bua Luang based on the recommendations in TripAdvisor and other on-line rating agencies. At first glance it is easy to see why Bua Luang rates so highly. It is an elegant building, set in meticulously manicured tropical gardens with many water features. There is a choice of dining inside or in the gardens in gazebos or al fresco. The waiters are immaculately turned out in razor-creased black trousers, starched white shirts and black ties. Even their shoes were polished, I noticed. But at the end I was disappointed because the food was anodyne. Don't get me wrong. There was nothing amiss with anything we ordered. It was just that in such a special setting I had imagined that the food would be a little above the pedestrian. But it wasn't. Each dish we ordered we could have enjoyed at equal quality, and at a lesser price, at any Thai restaurant that knows the basics. We had deep fried salted sea bass, braised pork spare ribs, chili paste with vegetables, stir fried mixed vegetables and rice. With one bottle of beer and three soft drinks the bill was Baht 1,100, before tip.I am sorry, but I cannot award five stars to Bua Luang because in the end it is the food that is the final arbiter.
