First time I reviewed this Thai strip mall joint was in summer, '07: me and fam were on our way to the airport, so the quick lunch was suitable plus cheap. Flash forward eleven years, and the neighborhood has changed; vape parlors with slot machines attract a questionable local crowd. The place was basically deserted at dinnertime when I slid in, so I decided to takeout after making my order. Pad won sen pork was delivered in a rather small deployment, with bean sprouts, thin rice noodles (NOT glass!), and a watery sauce. No soy, lime, nada. No vegetables in sight - egg, pork, little else. This really didn't qualify as the dish ordered, but back in my hotel room, it went down with little further repercussion (thankfully!). Dour faced owner; paltry provisions - will not return. Good Day!!

We had chicken and shrimp pad Thai, soft shell crab for an appetizer. Everything was excellent. We sat outside with a great sunset view. We even saw some whales out in the water (February 13).

The food at Lemongrass is clean and elegant but also hearty enough to stick to your ribs, just like the best comfort food.Coconut soup, curries, coconut shrimp, pad Thai, Thai beef salad, pineapple fried rice, chicken basil stir fry and Sambal beef in a garlic soy glaze. The food will have crunchy cashews & fresh vegetables. The food at Original Thai is consistently good. Small place with delicious food. We know we will always get an excellent fresh meal. Good value for the money.Awesome Food !

I eat a lot of Thai food and this is one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The pad thai was amazing and I was so sad when the plate was empty! The service was great as well.

We came here for our first dinner in Kona this trip. The food was every bit as good as the other reviews suggest, if not a bit better (we are foodies). Service was delightful -- and the pricing was exceptionally reasonable for Kailua-Kona. Well worth finding the place!

The food is GREAT and the portions are HUGE. We started by ordering the chicken and shrimp spring rolls. When the plate was brought with the chicken rolls we thought that it was both the chicken and shrimp spring rolls because it was so huge. Then they brought the shrimp! The fried rice was also fantastic. We had left-overs that we ate for another dinner. They also do very good carry-out but they close at 9 so you have to get your order in by 8:30. Shrimp rolls, chicken rolls, fried rice and beers cost $41. Not expensive at all.

We eat Thai food in MN about once a month at various restaurants. Thai food is always super flavorful and delicious. This place was the exact opposite, extremely bland and super watery. It was seriously the worst "Thai" food I have ever had. Only positive was the server was friendly. Don't waste your money.

We ate here on a very busy Monday, Presidents Day. They were short staffed but doing pretty good despite that. My "Poor" review is not based on the service at all, just the food. It's a family run establishment and they are very nice and friendly. We had heard really good things about it and a local woman recommended it so we decided to try it. We ordered the fried Hawaiian sweet potato appetizer. It was very bland with no spice at all and the sauce that came with it was also very bland, no spice or seasoning for either. I ordered the Panang Curry with chicken and asked for it to be Medium spicy. They have a disclaimer sign up saying that they do not refund if your meal is too spicy. Not a problem here, it was hardly spicy at all, mild at best. Not only wasn't it spicy but there was very little flavor or color to the Panang curry which is usually very colorful and tasty at most Thai restaurants even if there isn't much spice to it. Our meals also came out Luke warm, probably because there were tow women doing everything in a packed restaurant. Not their fault really but the food should have tasted better even if it was cold when it arrived. Very disappointing considering all of their good reviews. Since there are several other Thai restaurants in Kona town I probably wouldn't eat here again.
