This restaurant does not look like much from the street. Do not let this fool you! The staff and chefs pay close attention to blending flavors and textures to make fantastic dishes. The Bun Nuong was well-composed. The pork fried rice, which is rolled into balls and fried, followed by being broken open and served lettuce-wrap style is both flavorful and a great texture combination. What a great find during a business trip.

If you are looking for excellent, tasty, and flavorful Asian cuisine, you MUST eat at Mai's. I've been eating their food for years, starting at the farmer's market savoring their stuffed wings.I was so happy, when they opened a restaurant (several years ago). I have a difficult time ordering, because everything on the menu looks so good. The menu is eclectic and there are gluten free and vegetarian options too.Guess that I'm just working my way down the menu. Just had Pad Ka Pau. Simply delicious. I ordered it with tofu (there's a pork option too), because they make their tofu with just the right amount of crisp. The spices in this dish definitely compliment each other. The Pad Ka Pau is a little on the spicy side (as noted on the menu), and for me, just the right amount of spice. Mai's Deli is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Appleton.

I dined in the restaurant with two others one evening, and then ordered a sizeable take-out order about a week later; both occurred in October. Mixed results.Amy, the owner, waited on my party of three when we came for dinner. Excellent service, as always. The food was also excellent, as usual. One of us ordered Pad Thai, which was delicious, steaming hot, well seasoned, a generous sized order. Another ordered the chicken and broccoli, and asked for a different sauce, which was not problem; she reported it was to her liking, and she had plenty to take home. The third in our party ordered the General Chicken, and reported that was well prepared and tasty. I had a sample, and agree that it was delicious. One week later, still in October, I ordered a sizeable take-out order for a business meeting off site. This time Amy the owner was not working that evening. When I called, whoever answered the phone (I think it was a woman) mumbled something incoherent and then loudly said "Wait". So I waited. She then returned to the phone and I placed my order. When I went to pick up the order, a woman was at the cash register. She was very busy. It was only after I left the restaurant and arrived at my business meeting, with the food, that we discovered that we had not been given any chopsticks, which we could have used.I think the woman working that night must have been overwhelmed, though the restaurant was not busy; my guess is that take out orders were very heavy, perhaps, but this is only a guess. For both occasions, the food was excellent - no complaints about the food. The food is reasonably priced, tasty, nicely prepared. I would not consider it 'authentic' Chinese food, but this is very tasty food regardless.

A friend and I had the lunch buffet at Taste of Thai in Appleton recently. The place was packed. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. The lunch buffet was very popular, and the kitchen staff were working very hard to keep the food replenished. Multiple kitchen staff were coming and going, replenishing the buffet. They cook the food in small batches, instead of loading up the buffet with huge quantities of food that sit under the heating lamps; so while it might take a little bit of time to get the food replenished, the food is always freshly made. The food selections in the buffet were all tasty and well prepared. Nothing was greasy. Lunch patrons can also order off the menu, and I noticed some customers did order from the menu. Two staff members took care of us - one took away our used plates, and another replenished our water glasses. The staff were working hard.I've dined at Taste of Thai in Appleton for many years, since they first took over from a previous owner. In all the years I've eaten here, for both lunch and dinner, I have never experienced any problems. I've never seen any indication of insects in the food, and I've never seen insects in the dining room or in the restrooms. The food is tasty, well prepared. It's a great spot for a quick, inexpensive lunch. Staff have always been welcoming and friendly. I happily return to Taste of Thai over and over again, even to dine alone.

This was our first visit and it won't be our last. We had a party of 5 people and we all ordered different dishes off of the menu. Everyone gave their dish an excellent rating. I had fried rice with scallops and it was delicious. You receive a big serving so I had some to take home. The service was excellent as well.
