The food is okay here, service is quick however the 3 times that I visited here they usually mess up my order or forget to bring something out.

We LOVE this Japanese restaurant! I cannot believe when someone writes a negative review of this restaurant. ALWAYS, food is fresh and delicious. ALWAYS service is with a smile. We eat at sushi restaurants all over the world and would highly recommend Kohaku. Ken is the owner and head sushi chef. He is always overseeing every little thing in the restaurant. It was very, very busy last night. We were treated to a free sake and a free edamame bowl. What more can you ask. They are the BEST sushi and Japanese food around. No pretension, not fancy.....just excellent food.

PROS: good food, great hibachiCONS: very small portions, you walk out hungry ...................I should really eat here everyday; Iâd be skinny in no time. I have never seen such small portions; I wrongly thought French restaurants served small portions but this place makes French servings seem Italian family style portions.

Wanted to try a new sushi place in the area. Since this was rated one of the top places in Nassau County we were excited to try it. The sushi rolls were average at best. They did not look nicely presented, nor did they taste great. The fish may have been fresh but, but it didn't look like it. It all just looked mushy. The fried rice was also disappointing. Not really fried, more like white rice with some veggies and scrambled eggs. The best thing was the spice edamame , which was very delicious. The staff were very friendly, but in the end, gave us something we had requested not to get. Well we gave it a chance and were very optimistic, but in the end, would not go back. The place is fairly busy and we could see they have a lot of regular customers, so we were just a little surprised. There are so many sushi places in the area and most of them are great. Just hard to figure out why this is so highly rated. Kumo sushi is great and ruby sushi is very good. We just thought we would have a change, and now are sorry we strayed .

This hard to find restaurant was highly recommended and we decided to give it a try. We were glad we did. Our waiter suggested the dumplings as part of our appetizer selection and we thoroughly enjoyed them along with the shumai. The sushi was fresh and delicious and beautifully presented. We will be back.

Great sashimi, roti, rolls, Kung pao chicken, chicken with broccoli, sushi etc. Very fresh. Still could use some refinement in personal interaction but definitely improving.

Needed a bite to eat after a long day at Bethpage Black. Cirella's is right on the 3ay to where I was staying. Easy to get to no Broad Hollow, going south. Parked right on the street. People sitting outside enjoying the warm eveningh. You walk into the bar which had every table filled. Dining room looked full as well. Sat at the bar. Very quick, freindly greeting by a nice young lady who has worked par time there on weekends for 6 years. Lots of beers obn tap. had a $5 bark quick bites meu. Spotted the calamari instnlty. A genberous portion, especillay considering the $5 price, but it did lack some "zip" in the battering. No sauce came with it so I had to pay extra for some marinara to dip it in. Still, this and generous pour of wine was only $18. I thouhgt this a real prie performer. This is a neighborhood place and many patroms knew one another. I would definitely return and have a compelgte meal with them. it is interesting that they are an Italian Sushi bar. Hum...

For a romantic Valentine dinner, friends acquainted us with Rare 650, which we had been to in the past for a group business dinner. Since it was the busiest night in the year, I wasn't;t expecting too much, but we were greeted with a wait at the bar (where there no seats), and seated not too beyond the reservation time at a table wonderfully out back and away from the noise. Wait staff were amazing, and Dina suggested a special sushi appetizer which was just beyond the beyond, with a lovely presentation. At the bar we saw an incredible porterhouse for 2 being served, but one of the specials was a bone in filet. We both ordered one, but when they arrived they were over-cooked and tough! Come on! Filet mignon may not be the most flavorful, but tender it should be! Not only were they tough, but the presentation? A black grizzled, rough-shaped mass. Yuck! We did send them back and asked the manager to send us the steak on the menu he would order for himself--sirloin. So they arrived and cooked to order (medium rare), but over-carbonized on the outside. We did eat them, but they certainly were not the prime aged quality advertised or expected. In any case, we did have a nice night out, but suggest to Rare 650 they change their beef supplier before they loose their repeat customers. Oh, and the smokers were placed immediately outside the front door in an enclosed area through which one exited the restaurant--not pleasant for some.
