169号線をひた走ると川上村の中心地であろう、大滝茶屋周辺にたどり着きます。持ち帰りの柿の葉寿司を買って帰りました。駐車スペースが少ないことと、国道沿いで車がよく通るので十分注意しましょう。

塩漬けにした鯖や鮭を抗菌力のある柿の葉で包んだ柿の葉寿司は、昔から保存食としてまた関西地区ではお土産としても有名です。大半がお寿司ロボットによる機械製造ですが、こちらたつみさんではすし飯を木型に入れて手押しする昔ながらの作り方を守っています。さすがの職人技だけあってすし飯は固まりすぎず柔らか過ぎずに食べやすい食感です。　購入当日のお寿司も美味しいのですが、翌日に食べる鯖や鮭の旨味が浸み込んだすし飯もまた乙なものでした。

吉水神社の鳥居の横にある柿の葉すしやさん。奈良には柿の葉すしを売る店は数多あれど、ここのは魚を酢であまり〆てないので、見た目に生っぽく、食べると柔らかくて脂のノリがいい。魚の塩気が強いが、ご飯と一緒だといい塩梅。醤油をつけずに食べるとちょうどいい。

吉野山の奥のほうへと上がっていく途中、桜本坊や竹林院からほど近いところにありました。鯖の柿の葉寿司を食べました。酢のしめ具合がちょうど良く、鯖自体の味もしっかり感じられておいしかったです。周辺には食べるところが少ないし、おすすめの店です。

Spent a week in yoshino and this charming restaurant cafe offers one of the best tasting kudzu Mochi which we have tried during the entire week. The Mochi is very delicate and has a fine, light taste complimented by a sugar/peanut powder. Very refreshing scenery as it looks out to yoshino mountains and one can really relax while sipping roasted tea and having desserts in a very serene environment.

I will always prefer the taste of fresh sushi and the variety of fish that it offers (kakinohazushi is usually limited to mackerel and salmon). The kakinohazushi at Hyotaro did taste good though, and the explanation about sushi culture and history that the chef gave me while I was there was very enlightening, informative and interesting

川でのつかみ取りは整備中との事で、生け簀でのつかみ取りとなりましたが、大量に放した魚を満足いくまで捕まえさせて貰いました。また、宝石つかみ取りも鉱物好きの娘には大好評でしたよ。また夏に行きたいです^_^
