This excellent restaurant is completely out of place in its area, where it is surrounded by fast-food restaurants and uninspiring store fronts. We went there twice in a week, and there were guests waiting for tables at all times. We waited 10 minutes the first time and 2 minutes the second time. The menu, containing perhaps a hundred different dishes, is a bit overwhelming for someone like me who is not too familiar with Japanese food. Each dish is described in around three words. The waiter was helpful, but there was only so much he could do. I was happy with my selection, but it may have been mostly luck on my first visit. On my second visit I had sashimi, which was excellent -- especially considering how cheap it was.

We went here for a family dinner on a Sunday after watching a movie at a nearby theater.Dinner combinations and sushi are fresh, well presented and have great taste.Sushi Tomi is located in a quiet area of downtown Mountain View and is a very good choice if you are in the area.It is a somewhat small and popular restaurant with good service. In order to avoid waiting, we recommend arriving as the restaurant is opening.

We arrived at 5 PM and were seated quickly.... the restaurant was clean with friendly and efficient service. We tried the Dynasty Roll: Shrimp Tempura with Crab, Avocado, Cucumber, Smoked Salmon, Yuzu and Tobiko with a Ponzu sauce. Good taste with a slight crunch. The Shiitake Roll has very good flavor with a nice firmness to the mushroom. The Chicken Sukiyaki has great flavor, not too salty... the yam noodles were perfect. We will return to try other items on their menu.

I am visiting this place since almost 25 years on a regular basis during my business trips to the area. I haven't been in the area for nearly six years. So I was really looking forward to revisit Seto with my family (wife and two 3.5 and 5.5 years old sons) and meet some of my old contacts. Unfortunatelyall the customer facing staff members had changed. However, the new ones are as friendly and attentive as the old ones. The interior has been slightly updated but still a very simple modern straight forward Japanese design. So we ordered a de luxe sushi plate as well as a large sashimi moriawase. The fish could not be fresher. It melted in our mouths. My 5 year old son got excited as his parents did (see his comments on "Sushi Confidential " in Campbell) Having had sushi in many different places around the globe I had to return to Seto after almost six years to be reminded what a perfect sushi and sashimi looks and tastes like. The sevice was impeccable, fast and without flaw. The boys even got a bottle of Calpico each (a Japanese milk based soft drink) as a gift when we left. If you really want outstanding Japanese cuisine, specifically sushi and sashimi you MUST visit this place. It is not cheap but worth every single cent!
