Reviews on Sushi food in Springwood, Logan City, Queensland including Sushi Train, Sushi Ren Train Sushi, Natsumi Sushi, Genki-ya Japanese fusion restaurant
Things to do in Springwood
Believe it or not but not all sushi train restaurants are the same. The sushi train at Chatswood is one of the best sushi train restaurants in Brisbane. I've been there countless of times and have never left disappointed. Staff are always available and friendly and the sushi is always fresh and delicious. Would highly recommend anytime for a quick bite to eat or a relaxed dinner with friends.

The journey for sushi from peasant food to globally recognised cuisine has been a long one, but as fusion style restaurants become mainstream we see sushi pushed away from its Japanese roots. With their obsession with clean flavours that emphasise the core product rather than compete, some would argue there's been precious little room to improve. Conveyor sushi is here to stay.Yet sushi still remains just a bit too exotic for some. For many their grumble is it never really fills you up. Also the jury has been out on the calorie count in sushi, although the carbs in fish are often considered to be the 'good' carbs.Sushi Ren is a good step back from the whole sushi debate. Is it traditional Japanese sushi? Probably not but you can pay up to $1500 for Nigiri in Tokyo's top sushi bars. But they succeed at providing sushi that will appeal to most if not all palates. All of the favourites are there - from a simple avocado roll to California rolls and tamagoyaki. Where they excel is the introduction of non-traditional iingredients in a respectful way. Tempura vege sushi. Karaage (Japanese fried chicken) sushi. There's even a Wagyu beef sushi for that guy who needs red meat. There's also a menu with a Karaage, agadashi tofu and sashimi if you like it fresh and clean. If you love sushi but your significant other grumbles every time the very mention of the word comes up then this may be that middle ground you've been hoping for - and that just may be that couple to the right of me. I've been waiting for a karaage sushi to come my way for a while now but I've only just realised the Aussie guy there has been stockpiling chicken and beef sushi before it reaches me. Good thing the chefs do requests.Oh and did I mention price? One flat rate for any sushi plate on the belt (there are additional objects on the belt too so be smart) and everything is discounted on a Sunday.Itadakimasu!
We ate at this Japanese restaurant for the first time today........this is excellent Japanese food, extremely fresh and value plus. We ordered salmon and avocado "nude rolls" and "angry crab roll", not sure about the name but the flavours were spot on. We shared a serve of salmon sashimi, so fresh and reasonably priced, then the highlight of the meal...... unagi don, absolutely delicious grilled eel, wish it appeared on more menus. The service was prompt and the restaurant is very clean and well presented and BYO wine is permitted. We'll definitely be back, but found out as we were leaving, they also have a sister restaurant @ Tingalpa, which is nearer home.....hope it's as good as this one!

Nice ambience, with large choice of menu options, however very expensive, easy parking and good service
