江戸前寿司のお店です。島根でいただくお寿司は、結構ネタもシャリも大きめのもの(それも食べ応えがあり好きです)ですが、この店のものはネタとシャリのバランスがよいものです。特に美味しかったと思うのは、タイの昆布締め、マグロのヅケ、生うに、コハダ、煮穴子などでした。日本海の魚介をふんだんに使った寿司で美味しかったです。

銀山が栄えていた時から続くお菓子屋さんだそうです。名物は「げたのは」と豆入りの飴です。銀山で働いていた人たちが甘味を求めていたため作られた菓子だそうで素朴さを感じます。「げたのは」は昔は硬かったそうですが、今のはサクサクしています。製法は変わらないようですが、材料は当時よりは上質の物を使っているとのことでした。昔を思うお土産には良いと思います。

This place serves mostly sushi, with the main seating area being the counter with the sushi chef behind it. It's a small place with maybe 10 seats at the counter and maybe 8 more in a separate room in the back. Sitting at the counter was really nice, because you could see teh sushi chef at work and there are also all the fish and other seafood they serve on display. There is no English menu and the staff speaks practically no English, too. However, they were really friendly and helpful, even though my partner and I speak about five words of Japanese between the two of us. The menu has pictures and you can also just point at the fish at the counter that you would like to have. We had the nigiri set and the maki set, which was absolutely sufficient for two. The sets are probably best value for money. The atmosphere is relaxed and there were a lot of local people coming and going all the time. Highly recommend this place when you are staying in Izumo and need a good place to eat away from the Taisha and town center.
