Mt Fuji

This was good solid sushi. They had interesting specialty rolls. It's priced the same as most other sushi restaurants. The service was good but there was nothing standout-ish about this place. Would we come back? Probably not. There are other sushi places in the area that we like more. But, if you're in the area and you're craving sushi, sure.... Mt. Fuji is a good place. And it's open late, so that's a plus after a movie in Maplewood.

A pleasant Japanese couple own and operate this delightful little gem that is hiding in the midst of gloomy storefronts on busy Morris Ave. It is supposed to be Japanese/ Korean, but there are hardly any Korean dishes on the menu. The place is cute, cute, cute, and incredibly clean. The sushi chef creates works of art with his knife and the fresh fish is as good as you will find here in Jersey.

My son wanted to go here for his birthday. He and my wife had sushi. They said the sushi was very good and very fresh. They have a special where you can get three rolls plus soup salad and ice cream for 17.99. My other son and I had hibachi. My son had steak which is very good and I had chicken which was also good. The restaurant does have a big party room. Every time we go it seems like there is somebody celebrating their party there. The restaurant is kept clean it's nothing fancy in terms of atmosphere. The total for the bill was $95 including tip. Overall, the servers were excellent and the cooks who work for the hibachi grill are very good.Tip: if you go to their website they have a coupon for 15% off your bill.

Seems like there may be new owners. We have been here twice since it changed to Lee's. The sushi is good. The hibachi is fantastic. Our chef, Mark, was outstanding. He was real funny, performed magic tricks and cooked the food exactly to our liking. The servers were very friendly and kept our drinks full. We were not rushed, which is really important to me. We will be coming back again!!

Umi Sushi is one of several Japanese restaurants in this quiet northern NJ town. We decided to try Umi given that it has recently undergone a reservation and we have never been here in the past. We usually eat at one of the other restaurants but it was Monday night and the other 2 were closed, so we decided to give Umi a try.I would not return. Here are the reasons why:- when you enter the restaurant, all you smell is cleaning fluid.. not a good way to entice customers in the door.- we ordered the sashimi regular and sashimi deluxe. The fish pieces are tiny - half of the size that we get at one of the other Japanese restaurants in town. - we brought our own Sake and asked for it to be heated. They gave us one tiny carafe and told us they didn't have any others. I was quite bewildered - don't ANY patrons bring their own Sake? How can a Japanese restaurant have only one carafe? Needless to say, our waiter had to refill our carafe 6 times! This was disruptive to our meal - we could not freely carry on a conversation.- besides the sake issue, our waiter came to our table 7 times to ask how things were. I found this invasive also. Umi is on busy Millburn Ave where on a Monday there is plenty of street parking. The restaurant has clear glass windows to the outside, so anyone walking by can peer in. Loud contemporary rock music was playing on the stereo.. I would suggest to the owners to have soft music, buy more carafes, have a flavorful scent in the restaurant and serve better fish.#disappointed

This restaurant is one of several Japanese restaurants in the Millburn/Short Hills/Maplewood areas. The decor is decent enough, there is a parking lot and a sushi bar. The staff is sub-par - actually, they're pretty rude. There are 1-2 waitresses who recognize us as regulars and treat us well but overall this restaurant is not well managed. When we eat dinner here, we generally only order sashimi which is very good and fresh. However, today for the first time, I ordered take out with 2 hot appetizers which arrived cold and the driver was insisting on his tip, although I did pay a delivery fee with my order. When I contacted the restaurant to complain this is how the responded: Delivery charge is not for driver, he depends customers tips for his living, he have to pay his own gas too. We cut the container lid to release steam, otherwise the appetizer would have been soggy. We are sorry for the inconvenience that your food was cold, but you can’t always expect to have food hot when it is delivered. When I order food, I DO expect the food to be hot when delivered and in past when I've ordered pizza or Chinese food, it has not only come hot, but steaming hot. I will not be ordering out from this restaurant again and don't suggest anyone else do so either.#disappointed
