My second year visit to the restaurant. They have a new menu this year with more delicious foods. We again got the counter seats and had a very good interaction with the Master Chef who was very friendly and talkative. Great dinner and an enjoyable evening. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in Niseko.
No compromises are made when we are selecting only the highest grade of ingredients. Enjoy our delicious fresh seasonal sushi with fine sakes. “Sushi Wakatake” is a Sushi Restaurant which moved to Niseko from Sapporo and we are proud to bring the pleasure
New restaurant in Hirafu; a latest Michelin-approved addition to Niseko’s fine dining scene. Fresh seasonal nigiri sushi and Japanese course meals prepared by top-class chefs with spectacular views! We ordered the Chisenupuri set each. Excellent service but restaurant was quiet, only 2 couples tonight. Many customers walked in but walked out after checking the menu. I figured out it’s the menu design at fault. Look at the big font on the price. They should keep it same font size!

We tried to have a quick light lunch here and arrived 10 minutes before last order (1:40pm for 1:50pm last order). We were refused service by the chef behind the counter saying they were closed. This was annoying as we were within their posted hours, and we had driven from Hirafu. We all loaded back into our vehicle and I then saw a car load of Asian people arrive and walk into the restaurant. I went back in and they were all seated and placing orders. 2 older ladies approached and indicated they were closed. I was obviously very annoyed. I translated what had transpired and one lady was rude, the other shrunk. I then asked the chef who rejected us why? He lost big face, and so he should. After requesting again why he refused us, he made some lame excuse and later gingerly offered to serve us, like a cat that just killed your canary pushing your dead bird toward you. I was in no mood to spend my money here after this treatment. This kind of behavior is shameful. We have frequented this place several times (8+).These people have no appreciation for those who provide their revenue, their bread and butter. No integrity. Racist or just incredibly rude. Take your pick.

10 mins walk from Kutchan station. You turn left when you see the information Centre on the left side of the road and big neon signs shows this restaurant. Seats about 20- 25 people so you might wanna book in advance.Very homely, traditional setup. Seems to be husband and wife operating it.Loved the sushi / sashimi. I just wouldn't recommend the abalone since it is very hard when raw and didn't taste good as a sushi or sashimi. All the other usual fish breeds were available and Toro was awesome of course.I even tried whale which I knew I shouldn't and I regretted since it wasn't that nice and looked bloodied. There is no ramen or udon. All dishes were cold. They allow smoking inside the venue and the 2nd time we went, they had WIFI setup. If you crave for fresh sashimi / sushi, definitely give this a visit.

Long queue but not too long a waiting time. Service is FAST and food quality is pretty good. Located inside the Niseko Alpen Hotel, it is convenient for some souvenir shopping and even a massage if you have to wait 20mins at Syokusai for lunch. Menu was clear and easy to order. Choose from a Picture menu of different types of rice sets, sushi sets and noodles set is as simple as it can get in Japan. I love picture menu. It speaks a thousand words. Green tea was served almost as you take your jacket off. You can come in your ski gear and boots if you have too. They run the restaurant almost like a Chinese restaurant, seatings are maximised. No reservations for lunch, so come early if you are starving or be prepared to queue and have large groups split up. I thought the sushi were great. Bearing in mind, there are not that many sushi restaurants in Niseko surprisingly, Syokusai sushi was a really nice change from the many hotpot and shabu-shabu or sukiyaki restaurants. Verdict : will go back again. Convenient and good.

Seriously, the only good thing about this restaurant is its strategic location at the intersection of a popular junction. Food and service was average and greatly over-priced...the only reason we came here was because few places are open for late lunch at around 3pm.

This is one of the better Sushi Restaurants in Niseko and right in town on Kutcgans 'Ginza Strip'.Large portions and filling set meals. Counter seating and 'on the floor' seating plus some rooms. Free flow coffee. A popular lunch and dinner venue with parking beside.

This was a great sushi experience - the Nigiri are made one by one to your request, and you control what and how much to eat. Quality is top notch: great, fresh fish and delicious rice. One word of warning - this quality comes with a (high) price tag, as we ended up paying 6,500 yen (65$) for 22 pieces of Nigiri, which is just enough for two not-so-hungry people.

We came a year ago & were appeased with services & quality of food. This time round, it’s less impressive perhaps both quality & fancy factor ebbing. We enjoyed lunch better for better value, less so for dinner. Seafood here generally better than meat dishes.
