I just had lunch at this location with my family.High ceilings and dramatic decor contrast with stained curtains and a pleasant but somewhat indifferent staff. The food is what you would expect-- the usual assortment of rolls and dishes that seem to be de rigeur at what passes for Japanese food nowadays. The only real question is "Is it Fresh?' and " How Expensive?"I can answer both. Yes, the fish is generally fresh and of high quality and the prices are reasonable.I think the owners of this restaurant have built a mini-empire at a time when there are many other similar restaurants around--and every Chinese restaurant now offers 'Asian Fusion' which includes a sushi bar of dubious quality where the fish tanks used to be.If you can't get to Arata (in Syosset village) or Nagashima (in Jericho) which are both much more interesting restaurants, you can get your sushi fix here.

We visit all the sushi restaurants. This is a brand new place, replacing Shish Kabob. We haven't tried the Hibachi part. That's for the kids. We're not kids, just mature (very) sushi lovers. I can't begin to say how great this place is. Friendly, nice looking, and, most of all, great sushi. Very attentive staff. You are made so comfortable here. I highly recommend Miko. WonderfuL!!!!!!!

In my continuing search for Asian restaurants my wife and I visited this location. We were very satisfied.PROS: Decent prices. Excellent food. The sushi sashimi combination was excellent with the fish slices quite generous and fresh. Locale quite pleasant and very clean (check out the bathrooms, as I always do). CONS: Difficult location to find, in the back of a small shopping center with very difficult entrance/exit. Staff a bit unfriendly.Would go again.

I worry when the first impression is meh- and the second (and third) are worse. I have enjoyed delicious food before at this nice, casual storefront before. On a recent Saturday night visit the room had only 3 tables occupied (& 1 at the sushi bar) The wall by my table had paper specials taped to it-- "June special" "4th of July roll!" "October.."The carpet to the restroom was embarrassingly stained. The walls on said hallway maybe can be resurrected with a good scrubbing-- if not paint? On tonight's occasion we choose cooked food over raw. Our dinner was very good.

For a romantic Valentine dinner, friends acquainted us with Rare 650, which we had been to in the past for a group business dinner. Since it was the busiest night in the year, I wasn't;t expecting too much, but we were greeted with a wait at the bar (where there no seats), and seated not too beyond the reservation time at a table wonderfully out back and away from the noise. Wait staff were amazing, and Dina suggested a special sushi appetizer which was just beyond the beyond, with a lovely presentation. At the bar we saw an incredible porterhouse for 2 being served, but one of the specials was a bone in filet. We both ordered one, but when they arrived they were over-cooked and tough! Come on! Filet mignon may not be the most flavorful, but tender it should be! Not only were they tough, but the presentation? A black grizzled, rough-shaped mass. Yuck! We did send them back and asked the manager to send us the steak on the menu he would order for himself--sirloin. So they arrived and cooked to order (medium rare), but over-carbonized on the outside. We did eat them, but they certainly were not the prime aged quality advertised or expected. In any case, we did have a nice night out, but suggest to Rare 650 they change their beef supplier before they loose their repeat customers. Oh, and the smokers were placed immediately outside the front door in an enclosed area through which one exited the restaurant--not pleasant for some.
