This is a fairly large family oriented establishment in a strip mall. They have both hibachi and regular tables for sushi. We went on a Sat evening; the place really was quite busy. The restaurant is light and airy but because of it's open quality it can get quite noisy. It's a family style restaurant so a crying kid at the next table might as well be at your table.Although the food was good, they could certainly work on the staff's service and demeanor. The hostess was lackluster as she led us to our table. No "enjoy your meal" as she left. The waiter had even less personality and no presentation skills. When he served my soup, he accidently spilled quite a bit on the table. No problem with that, accidents happen to everyone but he never acknowledged the mishap and never attempted to help dry up the table. The miso soup was very good; the sushi for two was more than ample, very artistically presented and was fresh and appetizing but I've had equally good, if not better Japanese food in the area and certainly a more welcoming attitude so I'm not likely to return.

Service was quick...they definitely wanted to move us out as the line of folks waiting was long. We were 11 people...kids ages 5-9. Food was good. Not as good as other places. THOUGH it's one of the first Hibachi's we have been too where our hair and clothes did'n't pick up the odors...I don't thin we will return as the steak was chewy and they were rushing us

If you like sushi, stop at this place. Good selection of various sushi dishes. Best time to visit - during the week. It is rather crowded on the weekends.

Tommyâs Tavern + Tap 3492 US Hwy 9, Freehold, NJ 0772 In the greater general area more-or-less, of around, about,+/- 79; 33; Schank Rd; 534; Jackson Mills Road, and there-abouts +/-Looks like the ânew kid on the blockâ just might just realistically be the new strong contender for nosing-out âall-the-othersâ for the coveted Title of The Best Sports Bar & Restaurant in the local area of Freehold Township?You will not have to bring your patience if you choose to wait for an Inside-Table inside their nifty indoor eatery, because you just might choose to stay outside in their different-novel OUTDOOR "Ambiance" area, in their rear-area, in the back. It has great REAL drinks, and great food, same as the inside. But outside has palm trees, and, string-lights that, all, will really help you forget about that really, really, very, long, long wait-time to âget-insideâ.I saw many opt to stay in their quite interesting Rear Area. Both inside and outside, you can have sushi or you can have a sandwich. Tommyâs has anywhere from gourmet pizza to âbar-type foodâ at the bar, table, or outside. You can try something new every time. Loaded nachos; buffalo chicken salad with buffalo sauce; in that enjoyable back area or inside. Donât let the price tag throw you as you get Hefty Plates of food with a whole bunch of different versions of drinks and an impressive array of beer on tap to choose fromâ¦. PLUS friendly, cheery, Table Servers.... All that will make it well worthwhile to give Tommyâs on Route 9 in Freehold a try to convince you to go back again. Remember, it still might be crowded enough that you might not even get âright- intoâ their OPEN AIR REAR AREA, either, for quite a spell. Next-time we are in this local area, we are definitely going to give it another whirl.

Good buffet with a variety of choices. Very good selection of sushi and Japanese fare. They donât puts a lot food out at once and are continually refilling, so food is fresh. I hadnât been to this restaurant in a couple years and it seemed a bit worn this time. Bathrooms were dirty as well. The place could use a renovation and good cleaning.

We did take out because of the wait. The place was packed and they were turning tables. It is a byob which is great. Plus the portions and presentation were pretty impressive. We ordered a mix of everything and were not disappointed

Everything from service to atmosphere to food quality is top notch. We had Rock n Roll sushi to start which was awesome. Then we had a bottle of Cab for 1/2 price wine night. The entrees BBQ Brisket tacos were delicious. Highly recommend!
