Located next to Davidâs Bridal in a strip mall, I had never noticed this restaurant. A friend who used to live in Japan suggested that we try it out. And, we are glad we did. The food was very good and meal portions were commensurate with the cost. I thought the appetizers were a little pricey for the amount of food although I did enjoy the chicken meatballs, potstickers, chicken and spinach appetizers. We were there on a weeknight, so it was not noisy. But every other patron in the restaurant was Japanese. My friend who lived in Japan had a bento box and said that it was authentic. We especially liked the little dividers between tables so that the restaurant could optimize space yet allow you some privacy. They also have two smaller rooms for private groups and one was set up Japanese-style (i.e., sitting on the floor).

This restaurant serves consistently good Japanese food. I have been a customer for about 8 years. Yoshi himself is present behind the sushi bar every time I have visited. He is on a first name basis with many of the customers and makes everyone feel welcome. The fish is fresh and all other ingredients are of excellent quality, Lately the restaurant has only been open for dinner. It used to be open for lunch M-F and the lunches were very good and a great value as well. Please open up again for lunches, Yoshi!

They just reopened in September as Kyoto (before that it was Genji) Japanese Steakhouse and the difference is amazing! The quality of food is awesome--they offer more of a variety in their vegetables and their chefs cook the proteins to perfection! They also have SUSHI...which is a huge selling point for me (I very much disliked Genji so I was hesitant to try this one). My yellowtail roll was one of the best I've had and since they are so reasonably priced, we did the 3 rolls for $11 (yes, you read that right) and everyone was really happy with them. The chef cooked my steak exactly how I ordered it and I ordered a side of scallops, which were also fantastic. They have a shrimp appetizer that is included and it was so good it made me sad that I didn't order shrimp for my meal. Someone at a different table ordered the margarita sampler and it looked so good I had to get one for myself and that didn't disappoint either! Make sure if you are on a time constraint, you let them know, because it does take a while to get through the apps and for the chef to cook for you (while also being hilarious and putting on a great show). There is also a really good chance you will have leftovers, because, the portions are huge! I got to enjoy this for breakfast the next morning as well!

This restaurant has more than sushi. There are many Japanese appetizer we can enjoy. The presentation of sushi is very good. They also have a variety of sake. Servers are all friendly and good place for family, too.

We went here today, around 3pm, to celebrate my sonâs birthday. Place is small. As we were being shown our table, there was a booth against the bar area where clearly the family of the restaurant owners were seated, 3 or 4 large platters of food there under Saran Wrap and a huge platter of King crab legs as well...hmmm. Oh well, we were seated, I had a Pinot Grigio, kids had water. Complementary edamame came, OK, needed more salt IMO. We ordered 4 rolls; Vegas, Lollipop, Big Ronin, and Firecracker rolls. They were delicious, my son, who is the purist, liked Lollipop better than my daughter and I, it is several meats and avocado inside a cucumber round on a skewer. The rest were wonderful combination rolls with excellent flavors and sauces. Our fave was the Big Ronin, then Firecracker. Vegas is tempuraâdâthe entire roll!We also ordered miso soup and a salad, dependably good. Miso was a bit smoky. Although service was prompt, it was a little weird; difficult to understand her, zero eye contact...just interesting. Because of the food, we would definitely go back. Location is handy to Tuttle Mall, behind PF Changs.

Had lunch here on a Thursday. Not very busy. I sat at the sushi bar and the chefs were very friendly. I ordered the Caribbean roll, which I'm not sure about. It had banana and coconut, and was definitely a little sweet. The rice was good, and it was served a little warm. Better with wasabi and soy sauce. I'd probably order something different next time. I'll give it another try sometime, and will re-review at that time. The jury's still out.
