We were pleasantly surprised at our experience at Yuan. The Bento boxes were good value and offered a nice assortment to try their different types of foods. I had chicken hibachi bento box. My husband had the Mongolian dinner special. That dish was especially flavorful. We also had crab rangoons... crispy and cheesy good tastes. We also took home a chef's special noodle dish (for later in the week). The service was excellent, friendly, and helpful. They were also accommodating when I asked for extra sauce, etc. We will go back.

When I first walked in & said table for one, the gentleman, who looked like he might be the manager, immediately asked me whether I wanted to sit in the bar area. I thought this was a little presumptuous, just because I was a single diner... Anyway, I said I'd rather sit in the dining room, which did have available seating. My sushi was fine. While their clear soup was OK, it wasn't as good as Albany's Sushi Tei, which also provides spices as an option to put into the soup. FYI, they also offer hibachi cooking. The restaurant has large attractive rope chandeliers. I thought that playing rock and roll music (some of the time) took away from a relaxing atmosphere. Note if you're heading north on the Northway, you take a left off of Exit 6. You'll soon see a sign on the right side, saying "Quality Inn & Suites" with "Sake," in smaller letters, underneath. The staff told me both businesses have the same owner. Lastly, I asked, & Sake in Latham is NOT associated with Sake Cafe in Albany.

Upscale Japanese Sushi Restaurant and Bar located in downtown Troy, NY.
Located in downtown Troy is a GEM of a small and cozy sushi restaurant. Casual but contemporary Japanese atmosphere. Eight seats at the sushi bar and about 8 tables. The restaurant is newly opened under new management. This place is the real place for sushi!!! Everything we had for lunch was wonderful. The edamame were warm and perfectly salted. The vegetarian gyoza were a trial for me but the flavors were perfect. The chicken tempura was perfectly prepared artistically presented. I had a rainbow roll(perfect, fresh, no sauce, perfect rice) and Black table roll(fresh scallops, crab, avocado, white tuna) which was wonderful. The spicy trio combination sushi was perfect and artistic. The Chirachi was artistically prepared with fresh fish. I have been to some of the best sushi restaurants in the USA and Unagi ranks among the best.
