I came here for an early lunch. Ordered a spicy tuna roll and veggi tempura set. The spicy tuna roll was too loose in its seaweed wrapping. It was not spicy at all. Veggi tempura was decent. Batter was not thick. Portion was small but I only needed something light. For a price tag of 7.95 plus tax and a sit-down setting, it was ok. Service was fast. I got in and finished within 1/2 hour. Early lunch sets are available 11:30-12:30 on weekdays.

We had an excelent dinner and would highly recommend I Privé. There are a lot of creative dishes on the menu, but with that creativity (understandably) comes additional cost. There were a couple of items that just didn't deliver for that cost, for us (i.e. The Jada and the Josh) Putting that minor detail aside, we greatly enjoyed our dinner. Overall score 4.5

Iâve indulged in Benihana restaurants across the US and this is my first poor experience. Sitting occurred in lounge area which is where they donât cook in front of you. Youâd expect that the quality of service and food is comparable but not in this case. Sushi roll and two dinner entrees took an hour and sixteen minutes (exactly) to arrive. We asked for fried rice instead of steamed rice and were told that it was not possible in lounge area. When we asked to speak to the manager we were told that âhe was too busyâ. Service was very slow and outright left us with craving traditional Benihana service. J, we apologize for your experience. If you have not done so already, please contact us via www.benihanalistens.smg.com/. We look forward to following up with you. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

I have eaten here many, many times and it always seems like they are doing me favor by allowing me to eat there - the food kept getting more and more inconsistent even though they supposedly get fresh fish flown in daily - I'm not buying it - over cooked hamachi collar - over cooked fried calamari - over priced - varied staff that don't even know the menu - too many other places to go

My ramen was fantastic! Service was fast and friendly. It was not crowded, but I arrived at opening time on a weekday, so that may have been a factor. The bowl was prepared with exquisite detail, and every aspect worked perfectly together. Texture, temperature, taste, spice, and aroma did not disappoint. I highly recommend the ramen and expect that their other dishes are tasty as well. Be sure to have cash, as the sign said "cash only" -- may have been specific just to lunch though.

Passed by signs several times on Old Bayshore Hwy. I looked up the place and it had good reviews so my family decided to try Mr. Teriyaki. Very pleased that we did. Big portions of Sashimi and fresh. A few had the Dinner Box aka Bento Box and it had good size portions. The Dinner Box box has several items to choose from. Gyoza, tempura, etc. Chicken teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, etc. Too many choices to list. The rolls were really good. Try the Burlingame Roll and Wonder Woman Roll. SO GOOD! Price are very reasonable and portions are good size. Well worth it.

Top of line sushi located in downtown San Mateo. Sitting at counter is best, where you can talk directly with Sam and see daily specials posted on the wall. Always very busy, so reservations are recommended. Always keep track of your orders, if you make multiple orders throughout your dining; staff does not give detailed bills. Environment is very basic, and a bit noisy. Sam's sushi has been always consistently excellent.
