Find out what Sushi restaurants to try in Bay of Plenty Region. The Bay of Plenty (Māori: Te Moana-a-Toi) is a large bight in the northern coast of New Zealand's North Island. It stretches from the Coromandel Peninsula in the west to Cape Runaway in the east, a wide stretch of some 259 km of open coastline. The Bay of Plenty Region is situated around this body of water, also incorporating several large islands in the bay. The bay was named by James Cook after he noticed the abundant food supplies at several Māori villages there, in stark contrast to the earlier observations he had made in Poverty Bay.

We had dinner ( 27/07).Didnât know if we have to book. Was there at 5.30pm, restaurant still close but there are activities within.Daughter decided to make a booking just incase. We were lucky as we were the last table available. But walk-ins can have their meal too, just at the âbar âcounter .Took awhile to come but was worthwhile waiting. As my daughter is well versed in Japanese food, it was very nice just to sit and enjoy the food not worrying what to order.Food arrived piping hot, good flavour, nice food.Price wise is ok.Definitely recommend this place and make sure you book a table if you want to be seated at a table instead of counter. On saying that, counter top is also a very good experience as you get to see the Japanese chef preparing sashimi and other delicacies.

Authentic Japanese Cuisine. Courteous and Cheerful Service. Takara Serves Happiness and Value!
Been going to this restaurant when in Tauranga for over 5 years. Before it moved to its current location. The last time I here 18 months ago the food was good. But my last visit was poor. Hardly really even a Japanese restaurant, given the menu I saw.The food was poor and the choice very limited. The only good part was the Okinawa beer they had on tap.
