We wanted something different but wanted a steak house so we picked this placed based on the previous reviews. Well.....The atmosphere is very nice. Rather elegant on the inside even through from the outside it looks nothing like a steak house, it the old Pizza hut from years back. We went early, 430, so there was only a few people there when we got there and just the 1 waiter. Service was good and quick. The special drink selection is the normal 6 or 7 house drinks. The food selection is not bad, had 2 steaks. Prices were a bit high I thought, but the steaks we're quiet good. 1 complaint I had was I was supposed to get steak fries and what I got was 4 fresh cut potato fries. Not quite what I planned on.Towards the end of the meal, as the place did start to get busier, @ 6, service did slow down a lot. There was still only 1 waiter on when we left. I would hope another was starting shortly.Overall, a very nice place. Food was goodDrinks were good and well priced. Have a separate bar.And the prices although a little high not bad.

This was our second trip to the Flatiron in the last eight months. The last time we visited I was coming down with a stomach bug (not from eating here) and could not enjoy the delicious steak meal I had ordered. When the meals arrived, the servers were understanding and great about packing up our meals so we could get back to the comfort of our vacation rental, and have leftovers for another day.We fully enjoyed our return visit, this time in good health, and found the servers to be exceptional. The servers function as a tag team. It works fairly well. We noticed no miscommunications or mix-ups in our orders. This time I had their pan-fried bass, which was done perfectly, over broccoli rabe and fingerling potatoes. The fish was moist and the juices were caught by the vegetable below the fish slab.My companion had never had a duck burger before. She asked for it well done and it came out medium/medium well, but it was satisfactory. She told me she preferred it with no pink, but didnât want to send it back. She had never had cracklings before, which were the fried pieces of duck skin which garnished the burger. She tasted one and passed on the rest. She removed the runny fried egg that topped the burger; she prefers fried eggs cooked through as well. We never heard of fried egg on a burger, but hey, she is willing to try anything once, twice if she likes it. Despite the new taste sensations, she was happy with her meal.We tried the hazelnut coffee cheesecake dessert, which was delicious. The air conditioning in the restaurant was either not working or they had it set way too high this August evening. It was quite hot inside and the crowd definitely amped the temperature up a few degrees. There was outdoor seating, but the humid August air with traffic passing just a few steps away was not our preference. This is not a place for a quiet, romantic dinner or a place to have a quiet conversation with a special date. It is very loud. There were lots of families with kids, and lots of large parties. The acoustics appear to amplify the sounds of everybody talking. There is, however, no TV monitor anywhere. You have to either converse with your partner or else rudely look at your cell phone.

A small intimate restaurant teasing out the charms of local ingredients!
The Tasting Room at Gendron Catering is an out-of-the-way provincial restaurant deserving of 5 stars. Small, intimate, set back from the road, we didn't know what to expect but as soon as the couple (Chef and Roslyn) introduced themselves we knew we were in good hands. It felt more like dinner friends than a restaurant. But there is nothing informal or ordinary about the food - really marvelous, farm to table, passionate cuisine. It was one of the highlights or our trip.
