We enjoyed a spectacular lunch at the Red Leaf Bistro. It was our daughters birthday and the day was made extra special by our superb waitron, Christolene. The food , service and wine were outstanding. From the delicious garlic focaccia to the calamari/chorizo salad to the baked cheesecake.....delectable & this was the meal of only 1 member of our party.Highly recommend this gem on the R304.

While out touring the vineyards, we decided to get some dinner and found this location on the road. Based on our experience the previous time, we were excited to see this where we found it, The 300g fillet again, was amazing. Perfectly cooked, and very tender. The chicken parmesan, which they describe as: Deep-Fried Chicken Breasts layered with Bacon, smothered in cheese sauce, sprinkled with Parmesan shavings and topped with Toasted Onions. Was still absolutely delicious. The "carpetbagger" stuffed filet with crispy chorizo, camembert wedges & jalapeños, was very good, but in the end, i liked the one with bacon, Peppadews & Feta cheese better. Not a reflection on how they prepared it, just my taste. Service at this location was also great, just like at the first location we had dined at. Too bad they don't have any locations where I live.

My husband and I visited La Pineta for the first time in a number of years.Honestly, I think we should have gone elsewhere.I will start with the positives: The make over which La Pineta undertook has been positive. I like the "new" look. The service was amazing from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. Thank you to Gibson and the management team. And now for the food:My husband ordered the eisbein which was served with mashed potatoes and red cabbage. While he enjoyed his meal, he described it as "homely and horribly under seasoned". I had the pork belly with mash, spinach, pumpkin (I think butternut), and red cabbage. While the crackling on the pork belly was spot on, I did not have the melt-in-the-mouth deliciousness from the belly which I longed for. The mashed pototes lacked seasoning and the fat content which makes mashed potatoes good. The vegetables were also unseasoned and average.Of the options on the menu, these two looked the most pleasing. Other options include schnitzels and steaks. There are extensive pasta and pizza options, but these have never been what La Pineta is about. Unfortunately, it appears that this is the direction they have taken, which is a pity.In short, our visit to La Pineta did not yield anything we would not produce at home. The word "indifferent" comes to mind. Nothing to complain about, but nothing to rave about either.I am a not convinced that we will be back soon. When we go out for a Sunday lunch, we want something we cannot prepare as well, if not better, at home. Unfortunately, what we were served is normal Sunday lunch fare in our home.
