My husband and I ate at the Capital Grill last Saturday night after missing our flight and spending the night at the Fairmont Olympic The food was excellent as well as our waiter The restaurant doesn't have a blender but our waiter asked the bartender to make me a Pina Colada by crushing ice It was an absolutely great drink and I really appreciated his effort in getting my drink made. We both had Filets clam chowder and dessert and our bill was just over $200 Expensive but great and they are very busy so make a reservation

First, let me say the steak was excellent. Beautifully cooked. But the other food, was not so great. Caesar Salad was +++++ Garlic, house salad dressing tasted very, very sweet. Potatoes au gratin were undercooked and not very tasty. This is not a hard dish to get right.Service was good, but inconsistent. More than once we had to look for our server. Live singer was quite good. My garlic salad was exchanged for the house salad, but there was no price adjustment... so that means $15 for a large green salad with super sweet dressing and some apple slices."Table side" salad preparation was not done anywhere near our table. The 20% extra for service ( but not given to the staff ) really confused me... is this just a way of raising the prices? We ate there with a $100 gift certificate and ended up spending about another $100-- this seems OUTRAGEOUS for 1 glass of red wine, 1 caesar salad for two, one shared dish of potatoes, and one SHARED 14 ounce steak! We have eaten for far less in Paris in a more elegant atmosphere with consistently good food. And at several places in Seattle. We expected a very elegant and excellent restaurant, and did not find it to be so. Nearby tables had mostly tourists wearing shorts and T shirts, although a few people were dressed up. It did not feel special, or up to the price.Even $15 for parking-- seems too high.Maybe it used to be an elegant and excellent place-- I did see an award on the wall from 2008-- but I certainly would never return today.

Being our second visit to the restaurant, it was not disappointing. Fantastic appetizers, wine/drink selection, and fantastic steaks. We introduced relatives from overseas to the Metropolitan and they overwhelmingly approved. Service was great, almost too helpful. As is common in many restaurants these days, the noise level is the only thing that was disappointing. I suspect that, if I had requested a quieter area in advance, that they would have accommodated. The prices were what you would expect from a high end, downtown restaurant.

Running behind and called to push our reservation back 30 minutes- no problem to accommodate us. Tried some special cocktails and the bread and oysters to start. Erick was extremely educated about each dish and we chose halibut and filet for entrees. I must say the wedge salad was one of the best I have ever had. Wished I lived in Seattle as I would come back over and over.
