Humo Bistro is born as a dream of a chef passionate about sincere food, nothing pretentious, but with a flavor that satisfies even the most demanding. Humo Bistro is taken care of by its owners and a staff dedicated to pampering its customers so that at a
This remodelled old home off of the Malecon has been beautifully restored. The interior is very modern with subdued colors and beautiful woodwork. Both the kitchen and well stocked bar are new additions. The rear patio is lovely, and quiet with lush plantings of tropical growth, surrounding the pool. (Unfortunately, this evening the pool was an ominous green, not conducive to sitting poolside). We moved indoors for the air conditioning and were seated at a table prepared with lovely linens. Our predinner drink orders were taken promptly. While waiting we were given a nice glass of water infused with ginger and cucumber. The wine list was quite adequate and we chose an Argentinean malbec at a very reasonable price. We ordered two appetizers, one a pork and blue cheese 'bruschetta" type, the other tuetano ( bone marrow) served with a salsa and a flaming rosemary spear. For our mains, three chose steak, one chose fish of the day. Two steaks were picaña, one a New York, reasonably priced. They were served with a very few carmelized onions and fries or baked potato. The potatoes were rather small. The steaks were ordered medium rare, but arrived closer to medium with a slight pink center , but well seasoned. To complete our meal we ordered two lava cakes with a very palate pleasing strawberry ice cream. We will go back again as the overall experience was very good for a restaurant which has not been open long. The staff were excellent in every way.we will be very careful ordering our steaks next time. Please clean the pool, as it is mosquito season!

A new grille with the trend of the coastal, modern and traditional Yucatan food, not to mention the great cuts to choose.
The staff were very friendly and very helpful with suggestions (both in terms of what to order, as well as other places to eat in the area). The menu is similar to most restaurants in Progreso, and the food was as good as other restaurants in Progreso, but not outstanding.
We were referred to this restaurant by friends that are locals. They said it was one of the best places in the area to eat a nice meal. The food was very good, but..........the service was extremely slow, and the prices are overly expensive. The steak was probably one of the best I've eaten in Mexico in the past 20 years, a filet mignon cooked perfectly. But the dinner tab for 4 people, including tip was over 4000 pesos, or about $230.00 U.S. In Mexico, that's outrageous! There are lots of nice dinner spots with outside seating, linen tablecloths and napkins, and menus with good variety in the area that don't charge these kind of prices. I won't be returning to La Recova anytime soon based solely on the prices they charge.
