Half Moon Lake Lodge offers casual fine dining, patio seating and a saloon with fantastic lakeside views.
We happened to stop in Pinedale on an overnight visit with friends that also happened to be our anniversary. The hotel proprietor where we were staying recommended the Half-Moon Lake Lodge as one of the best dining places in town, particularly since the current chef had arrived. Having eaten there many years ago and knowing the picturesque setting we took her recommendation. We were not disappointed -- even on a Sunday night. The dining room was rustic elegance and the view over the lake spectacular. We opted not to dine on the deck as a couple of other groups were already enjoying themselves outside and thus we had the dining room mostly to ourselves. The servers were efficient and friendly, and our food was perfectly seasoned and cooked to a tee. The fried calamari appetizer was crisp and not oily and came with a tasty aioli. The steaks -- ribeye and filet -- were succulent, and the chicken juicy. The dessert special -- a rustic interpretation of strawberry shortcake was interesting and not too sweet. There was an excellent selection of wine and beers. Overall, we could not have found a more perfect place to celebrate a special day.Thank you fro choosing us for your anniversary dinner! We ae happy to hear you enjoyed your experience. Thank you for the great review and I hope you'll come back out if you're in town again!

Greeted by the owners who explained the meal. Eat at our own pace. The meat, chips baked potato and onions were cooked in a caldron of oil like fondue attaced to a huge pitchfork. All you could eat including meat. Best fried chicken I've tasted. Also had salad, fruit, beverage and dessert included. To get there turn at the rodeo grounds in Pinedale just outside of town.
Breakfast all day. Best steaks in town. Prime Rib on the weekends. Whether its 1 or a party of 10, stop on by for a meal!
This is a tough review to write as I know that the owners are fairly new & I hate writing negative reviews anyway. First the positive: Its a nice clean restaurant inside the Stockman hotel. There is no âMountain Manâ signage until you go into the restaurant & see the menu, but itâs there. Now for the negatives: our host was also an owner & the cook. He let us know that there were only 2 of them working, so that it might be a bit of a wait on the food. His wife was #2 & we never did figure out what she did aside from checking to see how everything was & deliver checks. We ordered a rack of ribs to share with a baked potato & salad. Although it didnât take that long to arrive, the potato was cut in half & still quite uncooked. Their were 2 1/2 slabs of ribs & mine was about as tough as beef jerky. When #2 checked in with us, we asked for BBQ sauce & for her to have the potato cooked a bit longer. Neither ever arrived, but she did come by again & ask how everything was...again. This time, I mentioned that my ribs were way over cooked & that we hadnât gotten our potato back yet. She apologized for the ribs & said sheâd give us a discount, but never offered to replace it with something else...and seemed shocked that her husband hadnât brought back the potato...completely spaced on the bbq sauce. At this point, we realized that it was just best that we pay our bill (discounted $5) & leave, as the raw potato wasnât served with ANY condiments & theyâd likely never show up had we asked anyway. Maybe the owners bit off more than they could chew & should just simplify the menu until they figure things out? It was just too awful for us to give them another chance.
