First time to visit Penafiel and the Duero wine region. We had lunch.A great resturant for local roasted meats. This is the best roasted lamb I've eaten in Spain. Its a large order for two people so beware.Extremely well prepared and delicious, more tastier than the famous roast suckling pig, in my opinion and larger meat portion. This area of Spain is off the beaten track,we didn't see any foreign tourist here.Mostly Spaniards from different areas visiting this great wine region. It's really a hidden gem, because most tourist flock to the well known destinations. The service can be quite sporadic because of only one energetic waiter staff.About 40 Euro for the great lamb for two, well worth it!There are many other great Asadors in the area. This is just another example of how Spain's food/cuisine exceeds the rest of Europe.Spain is the best. The other overhyped and overpriced countries dont even come close. If your an adventurous traveller, then give it a try.

A beautiful and traditional Spanish village in the mountains hosts this incredible hidden secret Asados Alonso. Traditional and amazing is the best way to describe the restaurant, food, service and the wine list is truly wonderful, if you are anywhere in the area this restaurant is a must!

Excellent lamb, the home specialty.A bit expensive though.Interesting experience in this 'Mason' - kind of inn built beneath the ground.

This restaurant was packed on a Saturday for lunch - the food was ok, many had the speciality "lechaza" and said it was average. Some at our table received their main course well after the others were finished. The staff were completely unpleasant and rude, not only to us but to everyone. There are so many asadors in the area I would recommend trying somewhere else.

This is a picturesque local restaurant with a staff that aims to please. Our host visited the restaurant on several occasions and let us to this place. The first courses were outstanding. We had octopus and outstanding asparagus. The asparagus was so good that one of our party elected to ask for a second helping. The milk fed baby lamb was interesting and unique. Itâs not an entrée one would order frequently but when in Spain etc. The rest of the menu looked great too. I recommend this restaurant.

Visited on a Friday night .Set in the heart of the town with a rather plain entrance that leads into a cosy small dining room . Fairly busy, Excellent young staff who were helpful and efficient. Charming patron/cook explained the menu and took orders. Very good local dishes , great quality and value , very reasonable wine list too Certainly a find in this non tourist part of Spain.

We just went for a light lunch, so ate downstairs in the casual bar area. Warm welcome and an interesting tapas/raciones menu. Great mixed salad and the octopus on half a roll was superb. It was tender and tasty. with barbeque undertones. Had wine by the glass and were very happy.Thank you very much for your opinion. If you come back to visit us we will be delighted to assist you again. Thank you.

Super lamb in the oven. Matching wine as suggested by Jose. Added a salad and some fries but superb prepared lamb and attentive service.
