We first stopped for a quick snack after swimming. But we got stuck for a heavy lunch. Not a sophisticated cuisine. Simple and genuine stuff of high quality meat and vegetables in what we call HASAPOTAVERNA in Greece, meaning BUTCHER~TAVERNA.Juicy steaks, awesome souvlakis, amazing tomato salad, excellent feta cheese. One last thing. The place is spotless clean! Next day, we went back for a heavier lunch!

some friends where visiting me from USA in early April with their two kids.as we walk around town the kids wanted to eat something the parents ask me if I knew a place that serve good chicken because the kids wanted something more than souvlaki. well I told them if you don't mind walking to eastern old part of town (pronia )about 1200 yards straight from nafplion bus station the road to palamidi castle. there is a small place called ( KALINIS) the only thing they serve is charcoal grilled whole chicken with fry potatoes and a really lemony mustard sauce and souvlaki (chicken or pork) very popular among the locals it has only 8 tables inside but more out side in the sidewalk. Its always busy with the local families..so we went. .we ordered one whole chicken, with potatoes a horiatiki salad (farmers Greek salad) 8 souvlaki 4 pork 4 chicken we had 3 beers and a jug (1000 ml.) of rose wine first the salad arrived with a basket of grilled bread every one started to eat as we realize that walking had to do with our great appetite. after a while the souvlakis arrived with some extra potatoes the kids where so happy to see the platter, without warning they attacked the tasty chicken and pork souvlakis to my surprise they eat 2 each plus the potatoes .about 20 minutes later the real big platter arrived, a platter with a bed of fried potatoes and on top a whole split grilled chicken (WOW) my friend the where stun. wow very impressive, we all eat it with pleasure the chicken was very nicely done and juicy. and the potatoes fresh made hand cut. its is been a long time since i had such good chicken.my friends where so pleased that went to talk to the cook and give him a 5 euro tip the cook t first he dint know what to do then he wanted to treat us another wine. this is a family run place the old lady (the mother and the 3 sons) I highly recommend this place, is the best kept secret in nafplion I hope you enjoy it as I did with my friendsÎ£Î±Ï ÎµÏ ÏαÏιÏÏοÏμε ÏÎ¿Î»Ï Î³Î¹Î± Ïα καλά ÏÎ±Ï Î»Ïγια ÏάνÏα θα ÏÏοÏÎÏÎ¿Ï Î¼Îµ να ÏÎ±Ï ÎµÎ¾Ï ÏηÏεÏοÏμε ÏÏο Ïο Î´Ï Î½Î±ÏÏ ÎºÎ±Î»ÏÏεÏα ÎºÎ±Î»Ï ÎºÎ±Î»Î¿ÎºÎ±Î¯Ïι. ï¸

Another great place you have to be! A greek tavern with a traditional interior and a back yard operates during summer time. This a family business, running now by the younger son and daughter, Yiorgos & Vassiliki. Anything you peak, is delicious, and the meats grilled in the coals.

3Sixty is not just another cafe-bar. We thought designed and tirelessly organized for several months what we call 3sixtycafe. Our goal was to offer a place for people to meet and entertain, a real hot spot in our region. We wanted to create a wonderful en
I will be very frank: The Venetian city Nafplio is very popular among Americans, and, hence, many Americans are visiting. And this restaurant is geared to their tastes. This means, you get American-style steaks at prices which may be adequate in NYC but are totally out of place in Greece. To increase the final check further, they serve no open wine, but only wine in bottles which are outrageously expensive for Greek standards (starting from â¬30). But let the story begin how it began. We were led to our table and handed the menus. The chief waiter told us that we should have a Greek salad as a starter and then steaks at â¬63 per person. No, we did not want a Greek salad. We started to order different kinds of appetizers. When we tried to order mixed vegetables, the waiter said, "no, you get these vegetables together with your steaks". But we did not want to eat steaks in Greece. He was really pressing us to order those overpriced steaks. Finally, we managed to order breast of duck and pork and beef rib (which was Americanized enough, with a Jack Daniels glaze). The next thing was the wines. We wanted two bottles of different wines at the same time (one still, one sparkling). They treated us like idiots. Well, why should a table with several people not order two different wines in order to taste more than one? Then came the tasting. One of our ladies wanted to taste the wine (because the men started with the other wine). Jesus! How can a woman taste the wine! At 3Sixty, they still conserve Aristotle's view on women. But not alone that the service was arrogant. We could have lived with that. He was extremely slow too. Always, our glasses were empty. When I took the bottle from the cooler and poured myself, the waiter stopped me enraged, saying that it was his job to refill the glasses. But he did not refill. So, not only arrogant, also incompetent. Now, the food. The appetizers were not bad, but, to be honest, nothing special. The main dishes that we ordered (pork, breast of duck, beef rib) were well-prepared and tasty and, since we did not order these outrageous steaks, adequately priced (around â¬16 per portion). The total check was pretty steep for Greek standards, thanks to the bottled wines. The food was different from Greek fare and we took it as an diversion. However, the total dining experience was somewhat spoilt by the staff's arrogant and incompetent behaviour. Shall I add that this restaurant was the only place in Greece where we were approached by a hard-pressing beggar girl? Will we go again in this restaurant? Certainly not. Will we recommend it to a friend? Certainly not.
