Find out what Steakhouse restaurants to try in Madeira. Breezy Madeira is an eponymous island in the Madeira Islands, a Portuguese archipelago. The capital city of Funchal was settled in the 15th century and is a colorful collection of gardens, religious sites, and quirky tourist attractions like the thatched-roof Madeira Story Centre. Hike to the summit of Pico Ruivo and you’ll feel like you’ve climbed through the clouds. Unwind over a glass of Madeira wine, an historic fortified beverage that’s musky and subtly sweet.

Born and raised in Funchal, Madeira Island, the Beef and Wines offers a new gastronomic experience where the best New Zealand´s meat joins Portugal top wines.
We were recommended this restaurant and it didnât disappoint! Apart from good food, the whole evening is entertaining, from the lamb shank being pulled apart with forks at the table to the picanha Beef being sliced to order onto your plate .. as often as you like!! The icing on the cake was the pineapple, grilled and sliced to order as a post-Beef/mini-pud!! Delicious!! Staff are great, and very helpful .. and there is a hint of fun all the way through the evening. The only downside was the soggy chips ...Dear juliefromsurrey,Thank you for your review and contribution to our restaurant. It is very rewarding to read that you have enjoyed your dining experience at Beef & Wines. The Picanha Beef is one of our most popular dishes being requested many times by our customers as well as the grilled pineapple. However, we are very sorry about the chips. Hopefully you can return and taste other specialties we have. We put all our effort in the food we prepare so that we can provide our guests with a unique dining experience. You will always be welcome at our restaurant and we hope to see you again in a near future.Kind Regards,The Beef & Wines Family

Moules & etc
We visited this nice restaurant twice because we simply loved it! Plenty of options to choose from in the menu, but we had salmon, tuna, and mussel tartar, board of smoke meats, tuna steak, mule, and beef steak. Everything was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection, and the portions were generous. Their speciality is mussels which unfortunately we didn't try, but they looked and smelt delicious as well. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about their dishes and wines, so ask for advice if you are not sure about what to eat!

It is rare to find a restaurant where both of us wants to come back instead of trying something new when we are on vacation. Their specials are outstanding, unique and high quality. The service is excellent and even though we have been here multiple times, we are likely to return.

That known spot hast kept all its positive attributes alive for food and service. Concentrating on something you do very good is the spirit here. Order your beef skewer salad chips - and leave happy and satisfied. There must be a reason for locals queuing up to get seated ?!

Always reserve an evening for a meal here. Never disappointed, but tonightâs was the best yet, even without the addition of the local folk dancing troupe. Went for the traditional espetada on laurel branches. Sides: chips, maize, tomato & onion salad, grilled pineapple, savoury rice & sweet potatoes and molasses. Decent bottle of Vinho Verde. One Super Bock. Meal for â¬80. Superb.â¤ï¸

Visited O Polar 3 years ago on our last visit to Madeira. Lovely atmosphere and everything freshly cooked to order. You know it must be good because itâs full of âlocalsâ. You need to arrive early as you are unable to book, and will need to wait for a table. Restaurant opens from 6:00pm every day. Beef paid for by weight.
