We came to Tenerife for a family vacation - 2 parents plus 4 kids aged 12-23. We are foodies and love trying new things off the beaten path. This place was good. We had some trouble ordering, as our Spanish is not great. But what we were served was flavorful meats, good portion sizes.

If you walk by it looks like a typical Spanish bar, nothing special surely nothing more than sandwiches. Once you sit down for a meal you will be pleasantly surprised. I've only been twice but have not been disappointed. For starters I ordered the queso frito (fried cheese) which is served with blueberry jam a typical Canarian appetizer. Both times I've gone I've ordered the chuleta de ternera (beef chop) and boy is it delicious! I get it medium because let's face it that's the only way you should eat such a great piece of meat. It's brought out on a hot plate still sizzling. You cut into a perfectly juicy piece of meat that is tender as can be and salted to perfection. I'm not going to lie, the fries (chips) aren't anything to rave about but I need something to go with the meat. The papas arrugadas (wrinkly potatoes) are good I just don't care much for the mojo, its not bad but not great. Really this place comes down to the meat, if you are a carnivorous being you'll love this place. I know that the Bodegon Campestre is just down the road but the meat is more tender, juicy and much more to my liking here. I do like the fries, salad and eating at a great price at el Bodegon but since I only come to this area every blue moon I'd rather spend more and eat something great vs something good. The next time you're in the area near La Esperanza check this place out, it is right next to the ayuntamiento on the side by la policia going up the hill to the left if you are facing the policia local. The bar is run by a family and you won't get many smiles out of them but this is a place to go for the food not the service.

We came here for the steaks and it was amazing. As a starter we shared the ranch salad with oranges and avocados - loved it- and the fried mushrooms (my parents like mushrooms but it does not run in the family) but they were no fans as they thought they lacked spices and ended up being a bit boring. As a steak we all shared an 800g Bronco Noble - it was amazing and one of my favorite steaks ever!!!! Can only recommend trying it.Only giving four stars as a english menu/ english speaking waitress would have been nice (one of both absolutely sufficient in my opinion but none of both makes it complicated. Also we booked via trip advisor with a voucher for -30% on menu prices but that was not on the final bill and with the language barrier we did not feel like any conversation on it would have helped. So language and price -1 star. Hola ElfyNtz , muy buenas tardes. Be prepared to take a number just like in the Supermarket at the meat counter and wait. Is it worth the wait yes. The ribs with boiled potatoes and sweetcorn is the star dish and is a Canarian experience. Casa Tomas has had famous singers and TV personalities at it's tables so it must be doing something right. Good value and varied menu not a place for a quite meal, we went mid week for lunch and it was full and noisy but well worth the wait.

typical Canarian food, specializing in grilled foods, rustic family atmosphere
We lived nearby and once decided to have dinner in this place. Before it we've read a lot of rewiews in tripadvisor and google about this place. But the reality doesn't live up to expections. We order wine, steak and salad with 1 portion of bread for 2 persons. First, the price for wine was incorrect. OK, we agreed with waiters' price, he said about mistake in menu. The steak was not good - we order "medium" readiness, but steak was "medium rare" and "rare" some places. The vegetables in salad was immature, not good enough to eat. But the final was a bill. It was higher than it must be. They entered one more bread (+â¬0,85) and they entered another dish, not steak (+â¬1,58). When we asked about it, they returned us only bread price, not steak, they explained "it is incorrect price in menu, not our fault". I hope, that they don't do it with every tourist or traveller.. I really hope, that it wasn't deception, but only silly mistake. BUT i can't recommend El Pariente to other travellers, I think that they "love" locals, but they are ready for deceive every tourist for their money...

They serve really good food, especially meat. All kinds of meat. Good prices too. Atmosphere is authentic, you are sittingon small stools, food is served on wooden plates. I recommend eating the beef or rabbit. Desert isn't that good though.
