Me and a friend come here for breakfast every time weâre in town at the same time.We just finished a big session at the gym so weâre ready for one of their legendary breakfasts.We both had the Smithy - see pic - a large smoked local Procterâs sausage, bacon, fried egg, hash brown and black pudding. Why do so many places not offer black pudding? A slice of toasted sourdough for mopping up the egg yolks. You can have additions - an extra egg always helps.Lovely local Paddy and Scottâs coffee and a glorious greens smoothie.Loads of breakfast choice. A proper full English, go healthy, vegan or blow out as we did.Perfect combination of quality, taste, size and value for money.Service is great - helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Popped in for a cocktail on Thursday - quite quiet. No cocktail menu, but they'll pretty much make anything and everything. Priced reasonably. Staff ok but a bit 'laddy'. Chairs quite uncomfortable too but cocktail was very nice. We'd definetly go back but probably on a night out

I don't usually rate chains as they tend to be standardised but on this occasion I must make an exception.First good sign - this place is tremendously busy!We were lucky to find ourselves in a nice tucked-away side of the restaurant. Considering how many diners were here, I was amazed to get our meal so quickly.My partner ordered salmon on lobster risotto, I'd ordered 12oz rib-eye with a side order of breaded prawn and lobster to "turf it up" a little. In addition to this, I was brought a rather novel set of lettuce leaves coated in honey & mustard dressing.My word, what a piece of steak this was! Presentation superb, service great, cooked to absolute perfection. And of course, compliments to the chef means they ring that famous bell! I did wonder what the bell was about (I Googled it!)Testament to the food here - it must have rang about 8 or 9 times during our hour and a half sitting.Please pass on my thanks to all your staff for a truly wonderful meal and for being part of what was overall a great night out.Awesome stuff.Paul M, thank you for your kind review; we are happy to pass along your comments to the team here at Miller & Carter Ipswich!
