We were so looking forward to our Silver Wedding Anniversary dinner at Cuts in Halifax. All reviews pointed to an amazing experience for a special occasion. We are experienced travelers and have dined at numerous steakhouses throughout North America. An outstanding steakhouse is to be appreciated and not easily duplicated and none of the best are inexpensive. That said, we were somewhat disappointed by our experience at Cut, Halifax. We were greeted and asked if this was a special occasion, which we willingly shared. Complimentary flutes of sparkling wine were presented and appreciated. Our server was knowledgeable regarding the various cuts of beef and asked us if were familiar with dry aged beef which we assured him we were. He left us to our decisions and was respectful regarding timing. There was a very good selection of USDA and Canadian aged beef of various cuts. Australian Kobe was an option as well. However, the menu did not include a porterhouse cut or did not offer charcoal-seared for any of the steaks available. I ordered a USDA bone-in ribeye, and my wife ordered a USDA boneless ribeye. Both were deliciously good and done to perfection. The ambiance was strange, or for that matter totally lacking. Everyone appeared to be âdoing their jobâ, but there was no synergy or emotional connection between servers and customers⦠there appeared to be some undercurrent of tension. Our steak was excellent and as ordered, however, the sides were not exceptional. Asparagus with bearnaise sauce was very good, but the Brussels sprouts were nonexistent in an overwhelming barbeque sauce. The wine list is extensive and bottles are decanted tableside.Value for the dining experience is really the issue here. Any steakhouse, with high-end prices for each and every item on the menu, should be flawless. The caliber of the food is only one ingredient for a restaurant that advertises a special and unique dining experience. Unfortunately, âCutsâ did not make the cut with us.Thank you for sharing you're review with us. While we're pleased to hear that our server was able to enhance your dining experience with complementary sparkling and your food was excellent your feelings about the ambiance is curious. As a whole we pride ourselves on offering a fine dining experience that is both luxurious and perfect for special occasions. I can assure you that there was no undercurrent of tension between our staff who we pride on being the most professional in the city.

Great steak, fresh seafood, big wine and Maritime hospitality come together to create the ultimate dining experience.
I have been many times in this restaurant and mostly really enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food! My expectations @ Barrington are generally and simplified : consistent good food/ wine products , attentive service and an atmosphere giving space for conversations and good time. Yesterday was different. I chose a good Cab from Napa Valley, the waiter confirmed it was great - which it is. But why was it not decanted? I should have asked for it, but because conversations at the table took away focus - the wine ended up directly in the glasses. No big problem - but the attention to details at Barringtons was different before. The Rib-eye was ordered and delivered medium rare , but not impressive meat quality ( way too much chewy fat). Is that really worth +70$ ? No - quality was not at the usual Barrington level. Lobster Mac& Cheese came 15 minutes after the main course . The waiter apologized and told the first batch was burned , hence they had to make a new. OK , but the new was late and almost raw! . The ordered Cigar tenderloin was 8Oz - I love this one and yesterday was great, but we seriously doubt it was 8Oz. merely 6 Oz - why? It was an overall OK Dinner, but for $550 for 3 persons - it has to be good and I just noticed a drop in attention to details and quality. I did not ask or was not offered any cost reduction due to the lobster mac and cheese situation I hope it is an overall glitch due to vacation etc??. Will be back! Hi Megaline1807,Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience, we always appreciate hearing from our guests. We would also like to apologize for this disappointing experience and would love to make it up to you if you'd like to send us an email at [email protected] again,Maggie

We really enjoyed our meal! Steaks were cooked perfectly. Service was 3.5-4/5.. which was a little unexpected. Usually service is exceptional at every keg Iâve ever visited. My friend and I felt like this keg was drab/dinghy is really in need of a modern update...

Awful attention to detail. Little things that "fine-dining" should be doing that they just ignore. For these prices, I expected more. Other restaurants in the area provide better experiences: taking your coat, wiping the table between courses.. We had 3 servers provide us service during one visit. If you're going to call yourself fine dining, then be fine dining.

Enjoy a delicious meal in Halifax with family or friends, choose from our steak or go for the seafood at the only Bâton Rouge Steakhouse Bar & Grill within Nova Scotia.
Stopped in for a late night dinner after having some drinks at the local downtown pubs, I've eaten at one of there Montreal locations before so I new it was good when I recommended it to the group of friends I was with. I'm sure they'll all go to a Baton rouge again after trying this location. No one left disappointed they were all impressed with the food portions, service and reasonable prices. Great place for late night eats or anytime for that matter.Thank you so much for your review. We are very pleased to read about the wonderful evening you and your friends had with us. We hope you can get in to dine with us again soon.Donna OrrManager

Join us at Five Fishermen restaurant(upstairs only) in Downtown Halifax and let the personalized service and warm contemporary ambiance, set the tone for an exceptional dining experience. Choose from a varied selection of the finest seafood available, or
We ate at this restaurant as our original choice had power issues after Hurricane Dorian. Ideally located in Downtown Halifax. Booking is highly recommended. When we arrived, the downstairs area only had a few diners so we thought that they were quite quiet given that it was a Sunday. However, the main restaurant, it would seem, is upstairs. We were asked to wait whilst our table was being prepared so we had a drink at the bar whilst waiting. The upstairs area is nicely decorated and is very spacious. We had a table with seating for 4, even though there was only two of us.We ordered and the food arrived within a reasonable amount of time. Didn't feel rushed at any time. The food was very well presented and the portions were a good size. Neither of us had a dessert. The food here is of high quality and that is shown in the cost of the food. Not the cheapest of meals, but very tasty and worth the money.
