OK, the Ellendale from the exterior is not particularly inspiring, but we were hungry, in an unfamiliar area and not averse to giving the place a try. The dining room was empty (granted, we were late-lunching at 1:30 pm on a weekday) and a few folks were at the bar. We were able to sit in the dining room, which is physically separated from the bar but still affords a view of it.When we opened the menus and saw the prices, we were totally taken aback ($8.95 for a bologna and cheese sandwich?), but hunger urged us on to order. And were we ever glad we did! Two of us had hamburgers that were homemade and huge and absolutely delicious! I mean, we had to cut the burgers in two to be able to eat them, and one of us took half home! The burgers came with fries and loaded with lettuce, fresh tomato and onion on a super Kaiser roll. These burgers far out yummed the 'yum' place, believe me, and totally justified the $8 - $9 price tag.Our third had a BLT, and she was as pleased with her selection as we were with ours. Fresh bacon, fresh ripe tomatoes, fresh lettuce. Half of that went home too, it was so big.The service was friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was just what one expects when eating in a restaurant/bar, and the restrooms were spotless. If we ever happen to be back in South Sterling, we'll definitely drop in again!

This classic American chophouse menu offers sumptuous culinary delights â including lobster claw and jumbo lump crab meat as well as a 16 oz. dry-aged porterhouse. Other entrees include half crispy duck and buttery grouper. If youâre looking for something
A total surprise, as my wife picked this destination based on the associated hotel/resort. We had no clear idea that the facility included such an outstanding restaurant.I dislike the use of all caps in any message, but did so here for a specific reason. Key Lime pie is my favorite desert. I've had it hundreds of times all over the US and in the Caribbean, but never this good. The graham cracker crust was thin and perfectly made. Too often, the crust is thick and heavy, as though it is the primary part of the pie. More importantly, the filling was light and just a bit more tart than most versions I've had. Again, the baker often makes the filling too sweet or lacking in enough tartness. This was perfect. And the very light whipped cream was a final grace note, not a smothering mass. I would return, just to have this pie.Life is short, have desert first. This doesn't mean we didn't enjoy our main courses. I had a dry aged sirloin grilled expertly and full of flavor. I also had a special of the day, lightly breaded asparagus. It was a great start to my meal. My wife had roasted chicken, which she thought was very good. For all of the positivity in this review, I have to wonder why we only got a 4 out of 5??The key lime pie is one of our specialty desserts! To hear that you have had Key Lime Pie all over the US and Caribbean, and say ours is the best?! That is awesome!! I'm so happy to hear that, and I will be sure to tell our baker! She will be glad to hear that. I am also glad to hear that you enjoyed your main course. I hope to see you again when you visit the Poconos!

As soon as we walked in, this place gave us an 80s Ponderosa vibe. Deco was dated. Place smelled musty. There were rifles displayed all over the walls. Food was awful. Bland and artificial tasting. The BBQ chicken tasted like it was cooked using frozen chicken breasts. Ribs were tough and chewy. BBQ sauce tasted weird and artificial. Baked potato was dry and served without butter or sour cream. We took a few bites of our food, paid and left. We will never come back here again. This place needs a serious makeover.
