Named for the year that Dr. John Anderson purchased the land upon which the resort now stands, 1796 Room has now been re-launched as a signature steak and chophouse, serving steaks, chops, fish and poultry of the highest quality. 1796 uses only the highes
Our family stayed at the Bradford Springs Resort this last weekend. The historical aspect of the hotel was very interesting and fun to learn. During our stay we ate at the 1796 Room. The staff was outstanding, attentive and accommodating. The ambiance was very nice with items of historical connections to the property being displayed. The food was quite expensive with steaks starting at $40 dollars. Everything is al la carte so add potatoes and broccoli you are paying extra. My son had a lettuce wedge and it was $12 dollars. We were disappointed as to the size of the wedge as it was quite small. As for the steaks, they were very well cooked and seasoned but the whipped potatoes were average as was my wife's scallop and lobster risotto was average. In fact, she makes it at home and it was much better than what we had there. Our dinner for four, without appetizers (other than the lettuce wedge) and one ice tea and tip totaled $265.00.

This place was recommended by our hotel as someplace to enjoy good food in a relaxed atmosphere. Well, it was relaxed -- and the servers were friendly. Our drinks were fine as was the dinner salad; however, that's where it stops. First of all, I asked about the vegetable that was served with the entree -- peas and cubed carrots (can you spell frozen Birds Eye?). Thus, I settled for the yams which were nothing more than Gerber pureed yams with sugar, a lot of sugar. My tilapia was soggy which tells me it was still partially frozen before being breaded and deep fried. And the "broiled pineapple and mandarin oranges" topping? Canned and barely heated. Maybe the regular chef was sick or maybe, as others have said, the whole restaurant has just gone downhill. With so many other good/great restaurants in Bedford, how this one still exists is beyond me.

Hossâs Steak and Sea House is a family restaurant featuring fresh-cut steaks, seafood, and tender chicken entrees. All cooked to order! Enjoy our fresh and wholesome Soup & Salad Bar with homemade soups, just-baked breads, fresh fruits, delicious desserts
You have a Dennyâs, Bedford Diner and Hossâs. So glad we ate at Hossâs. Servers were very polite and good. We got salad bar and soup ($8.99). That included your drink. Oh my gosh. They had homemade green beans ham and potatoes. Sorry no pictures cause I ate them up! Soups also included French onion. Everything was so good I wish we had one closer to home (Ohio). So if youâre in the area stop at Hossâs. You will not be disappointed. They have other choices too. Sandwiches, etc
