El Horno Asador

Inside an elegant Inn, the stone and wood form a part of his decoration together with the windows realized by the same artist that I realize the windows of the Cathedral of Cuenca "Henri Dechanet". The Oven of stone in the center of the kitchen takes char

Nunca me he sentido defraudado.

We stopped for a light lunch. Got the house wine which was very good and only cost 1.10 euro a glass. Came with tapas of olives and pickled sardines which were very good. Ordered a lamb burger which was grilled perfectly and excellent. What a surprise. We sat at the bar to eat. May well be coming back for dinner.

The Recreo is a bit swanky and the perfect family Sunday Lunch restaurant, right on the river in a shady spot with plenty of parking. The location is good for anyone wanting to cycle or otherwise take advantage of the great leisure opportunities in Cuenca, before or after their meal, and it's full of well-off Spanish families taking Maman out to lunch. We had a lobster paella that was generous but expensive (of course.) But the staff were particulalry snobby. I'd go back but probably stick to the set menu - and I'd want to arrive in the Mercedes.

Asador de Antonio

We ordered an assortment of entrance dishes including two mixed salads. All these were shared among our eight guests who were visiting us from out of town. While these were being devoured the chefs were busy cooking the house specialty of baby suckling pig. These are only cooked to order so it took some time but the wait was worth it. We were so full and satisfied that we had to share some of their special desserts. The after meal coffee with cognac helped to make the outing a perfect one.
