Used this restaurant three times over a two week stay as part of our all inclusive arrangement from the Sugar Bay resort.Positives - The service was prompt & friendly on the first two visits but slower on the third visit when the restaurant was significantly busier. All the food we sampled was of good quality, well cooked & presented, this included two different soups of the day, New York strip steaks & Fillets Mignons, steakhouse fries, ciabatta, salads & a few different desserts, all very tasty. There's one BIG negative as alluded to in my review title - the restaurant has no air conditioning, it just relies on open shutters on the sides & a couple of small column fans to cool things down and, to be frank, this just isn't adequate. On our first two visits we were seated near one of the fans & the restaurant was half empty & the temperature was barely bearable. On our last visit the restaurant was almost full & we both sat there literally dripping with sweat. To reiterate the food was good but as we had to wait longer for each course this time our dining session turned into some kind of fiendish torture & this is the only reason I've knocked two points off the overall rating given.

Had a beautiful anniversary meal in a lovely setting overlooking the bay. The starters and mains were delicious. The service was impeccable and we were well looked after. The evening ended with a surprise anniversary plate. Would definitely recommend it. Thank you for this lovely review. Happy anniversary! Visited with a group of 5 for the third time this week...... prior visits were good for steak night and burger/ribs/fish. Appetizers, deserts and entrees all good. Service by service staff good. We settled in on Alamos Malbec each time for wine and depleted their inventory. This time we chose the Re-Discover menu which includes appetizer, entree and desert, taxes and service charge for $50pp USD . Also includes 1/2 bottle of wine per person. We also had a free bottle of wine coupon from prior visit. We asked what wine was available with this special menu and were told "Merlot" so we said OK.What came to the table was 3 carafes of wine........ undrinkably sweet wine. I asked to see the bottle which turned out to be Rio Something "Sweet Red". None of the 5 of us would drink more than the first sip. We asked what happened to the Merlot and a "manager" said they don't have Merlot and we must have been mistaken.... no, we were offered Merlot. Then the waitress brought a wine list and we said to just give us two bottles of the Malbec which had been replenished.Upon completing our meal, the bill included the two bottles of Malbec and showed no inclusion of Service Charge. We asked why no consideration was given since we were entitled to 3.5 bottles of wine and only had 2?She came back and the wine charge was removed and she said "Service Charge" was NOT included..... so we tipped accordingly.Just before leaving, the "manager" came to me with another bill for the two bottles of wine and we paid out of exhaustion. She said we could have had Burgundy but none was ever offered but had to pay for the wine..... not expensive.Upon checking the Re-Discover website it was clear that Service Charge IS included.Time for Jake's Management to learn to understand how to run a restaurant with repeat customers. Will not be returning on this trip or future trips.Go to Tapas or Cafe Luna for Re-Discover Menu and you will be treated properly and offered drinkable wine with your meal.Dear FriendThank you for visiting Jake's and for taking the time to write a review. We are sorry that you had a bad experience on your third visit. I've looked into your complaint and I accept that we may not have communicated as well as we should have on this occasion. The Rediscover Barbados offer includes free house wines, served by the carafe. Non-house wines are not included, but on some occasions we offer vouchers for return visitors and we should have taken this into account when your bill was tallied.Service charge is discretionary at Jakeâs â we pride ourselves on the friendliness and efficiency of our staff and leave it to individual diners to decide whether to tip or not.I will also be speaking to Rediscover Barbados about the terminology on its website to avoid any further confusion.Once again, please accept my apologies.Best wishesJakeâs
