The Briar Rose Chophouse and Saloon has been serving the finest aged beef and fresh wild game in our landmark downtown restaurant for decades. Our relationships developed with premium suppliers like Harris Ranch Beef and Emerald Valley Ranch bring the bes
First time we dined here I ordered 6 oz filet mignon medium well. Server tried to talk me into allowing the chef to butterfly the steak. I stated my belief that a 6 oz steak should not have to be butterflied. The steak was outstanding. Next trip same request from server and my same answer. It was average at best. This trip the server urged me to allow it butterflied. I declined and what came out looked like half of a butterflied 6 oz steak...very small and well done. The manager did speak with us and comped the steak. At least that made us feel like coming back to try again. My wife had crab cakes this trip and thought they were very good. We really want to like this restaurant. They have proved they can provide great food but at least in my case they canât seem to do it consistently.

Decided to have a meal out with my wife prior to travelling back to England. Picked this restaurant as it was in the local guide. Starters where nothing to write home about. I had crab cakes and wifey had some molten cheese thing. Both had steak as mains which were cooked to perfection. Had to order fries separate which was a bit odd as they normally come with the steak . Didnât bother with dessert as they were running low on stock due to them closing at the end of the season. Would have given an extra star if I didnât feel they were way overpriced. 2 starters and 2 mains plus 2 Ginâs came to $180 with tip. We have eaten in a lot better places for a lot less. Seems this is typical sort of price for the area.

When you read the mixed reviews, Believe them. Tough steaks, very average pasta dishes, and so so veal piccata. Becca our server needed lots of training. Arguing with a customer is not good service. Many better restaurants in town.

Spencer's Restaurant sits at the base of the Beaver Run Superchair on Peak 9, inside Beaver Run Resort & Conference Center (Level 2, Main Building). Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Spencer's is the perfect choice for any meal on the mountain. Enjoy
There is a an expectation for the dining experience when a steak entre ranges $40-50. The poor service from the young waitress on unfortunately was a distraction for a great tasting steak. Smiling, knowing the menu, removing empty glasses, and bringing a side salad before the steak are all Restaurant Hospitality 101. We spent nearly $200 for the 1 hour dining experience and left feeling cheated.
