We went specifically to try their Chuletón de Ãvila which, if you were to travel the world to experience the best steaks on the planet - Argentinian beef, Japanese Wagyu, the monster Porterhouse steaks in New York etc - , would have to be on your bucket list. We were not disappointed! The restaurant is hidden away about 2.5k outside Ãvila. However it surely does mérit le detour. It is hidden away in a farmhouse building with its own secluded courtyard if you want to sit outside. Very old-school - smoke from the cooking fires stains the low plaster ceiling - and the atmosphere tells you they know exactly what they are doing, have been doing it for years and so you should just sit back to enjoy the food and your friends. The Chuletón is to die for. It is also enormous so, unless you come from the Smith & Wollensky school of eating, you might want to share one.Highly recommended.

I went there 10 years ago. Nothing changed. Same traditional atmosphere. Same menu. Very much in line expectations: good beef offer. Classic Spanish plates.Very friendly service. Rather soft pricing

Amazing spot near the cathedral; they offered us superb roasted cuts of local meat, and treated us very kindly

We ate here twice while in Avila for over a week. The food was fantastic. We could get eggs, which me missed in our hotel's breakfast selections. (Scrambled with prawns and mushrooms was delicious). The other items on the menu were also delicious including the special fare of Avila, including the special beef chop. It was prepared exactly as I asked and was delicous! (Chúleta I think in Spanish). The folks in the restaurant were fantastic helping us understand the menu, which came in English and Spanish. They also had a separate menu with pictures, which was almost too easy to use!

Beautiful old watermill, just outside the walls, in a lovely setting. The food is fantastic, I had an amazing fish dish; but all our meals were first class. Service was efficient, top drawer and very friendly. The restaurant was traditional, clean & comfortable. Couldn't fault anything.

After walking the wall and touring the Cathedral I was hungry. This restaurant beckoned. I enjoyed my meal greatly. The soup was delicious, pork and potatoes grand, and custard satisfying. With wine, water, and bread.

After spending a blustery morning in Avila visting the impressive sights, we needed a good meal to warm up. I don't eat beef that oftenbut it is the specialty here and it was recommended. Well worth the visit. Great service and food. The specialty was chuletas (rib chops). The wine list was very reasonable and the owner chose a very good tempranillo/pinot/shiraz which cost EU$15. The appetizers, a light morcilla mixture on apples and asparagus mousse were very tasty. The steaks of Buey(ox) were perfectly cooked to our orders with large thin flecks of salt. Deserts of red berry mousse and goat yoghurt with honey (cuajada) were homemade and excellent. Finished off with coffees and complimentary small flasks of galician orujo de huerbas and crema de orujo. Said goodbye to great host and promised him I'd write a review. Here it is. P.S. You might be advised to make reservation.
