First rate materials perfectly cooked. The shellfish was wonderful - especially recommend the almejas fritas- perfect. My personal favorite was the rodaballo which was probably the best I ever had! Perfection! Nice outdoor terrace also adds to the appeal of the place. Highly recommended.Muchas gracias.

Sampled the menu del dÃa earlier today. At 9 euros for 3 courses this is tremendous value. I had seafood soup (very good), fabada (excellent - best I've had in fact - the bloke next door advertises being the no 1 in the world at fabada so I can only guess at how good his is!), then picadillo with fried egg and chips. Being a complete lightweight I couldn't stomach much of the last dish which alone would have constituted a hearty meal for me. Recommended.

came here in 2000 thought we might see if still open yes! love the way they pour cidra boy is it rough stuff but costs 1.5 euros a bottle if they remember to put it on the bill i had calamari to start proper stuff just dipped in flour and fried son Fabada Asturiana ie. bean stew with black pudding and cooking Choriso lovely . wife shared. then a giant sirloin, roast lamb and a big piece of Hake by the way whilst waiting they brought fried scampi Choriso and calamari tapas all still hot around to all clients in the place we were full before starting !! then puddings coffee and more red wine and cidra so friendly people and staff it cost 53 euros seriously!! lots of clients come from the south of Spain where it gets to 45 degrees in summer if near do try it you will love the food, people and atmosphere by the way the waiters see your glass empty then come over and spi sorry fill your glass again with the emphasis on trying not to spill from a 2 meter height great fun go really

Casa Cortina will be closed for vacations from February 18 to 28, both included. On March 1, we will be at your entire disposal!
We walked to this restaurant from the Casona de Amandi hotel down the road. It seems to specialize in barbecued food but, as always in Spain, nothing is quite as it seems when it comes to interpreting the menu. You'll need a good understanding of Spanish to get a meal that you fully understand how it is served. It is also expensive.

La Ballera offers good food, very tasty and quite typical asturian. The athmosphere is basicaly local people, it is a plce that I would recommend in terms of food.Be aware that as a very typical and basic sidreria, it is noisy and it is not a restaurant. Expect to be seated next to where they poor the sidra. This is normal in a Sidreria, but this is the only downside if you don't like the style, otherwise good food, good service and good price.

Recommended by a close by rural hotel when we asked for a local place to dine. Greeted by a very casual local bar atmosphere outside and being very early (8:30pm) we were uncertain what awaited, but it was worth it. Classic Asturian menu with real cider pouring. The chef came to apologise when one of the dishes was unavailable (fabada). The goat was simply divine, the best I have had and the cachopo was really tasty and fun. We wish we could go back, it was inexpensive, inviting, well cooked, and the service was from the heart. You can't get this in many places. A highlight of a month long food tour of Spain.

We where in Villaviciosa for a week to celebrate my parents in law 50th wedding anniversary. We stayed in a rural house. We found out about El Catalin, through TripAdvisor and as always, followed the reviews! The 1st time we ate at Catalin, was the actual day of the wedding anniversary. We were 9. We waited at the beautiful terrace for everybody to arrive. While we sat there, we aked for ome cider and they showed us how to "escancear" and even gave us a little plastic tool for the bottle to help you not to make a mess.!They accomodated us in a beautiful table at the corner with a wondeful view. The food was incredible. We ate mariscadas, almejas, fish, arroz con bogavante. Everything was delicious, right temperature, nice presentation and a lot of food.At the end of the meal, they bring you a pot of coffee for the table. Beautiful presentation and you serve yourself. They also brought us a complimentary bottle of Cider for us to toast.Three days later we repeated the restaurant since everyone was very pleased. The 2nd experience was as good as the first!

We came here for lunch during the apple festival. We pre-booked a table and were encouraged to arrive late. We enjoyed our food here we had beetroot humous with aubergine to start with which was great, then spider crab on maize tortillas next, then my partner had carillada ibérica which is a pig cheek stew and I had cod fritters with a lime and wasabi sauce. They are obsessed with sharing plates in Spain, everywhere you eat you are told the plates are for sharing, which is all very well and good but you canât always share, I donât eat meat but my partner does, so my partner doesnât want a huge sharing size meat dish and I donât want a huge sharing size fish dish to myself either. Also my other gripe is their obsession with protein, I love protein as much as the next person but I canât eat it on itâs own and want some sort of accompaniment with it, I donât think itâs too much to ask to have some vegetables, salad or potatoes with your fish. When I asked for something to go with my fish I was told that the kitchen was now closed but they would try to make something up for me. What they made up for me was another complete expensive dish that I didnât ask for that had scallops and ham in! When all I had actually wanted was some vegetable, salad or potato. I am not a fussy or demanding customer at all and I donât think it is too much to ask for a restaurant to be able to cobble together a small plain salad or some vegetables or potatoes to go with a dish without making a big song and dance about it, or it costing you loads more money. For dessert we shared a cheesecake which was lovely then we left, and despite being good customers and spending lots of money not one of the 2 owners who clearly saw us leave could be bothered to even say thanks or goodbye to us. The food may be good here but they really have a lot to learn about customer service.HelloIf you have any problem with some food you have to express your needs. I can not make a good job with someone who does not speek and just complain. We have vegetarian plates in the menu but I am not a fortune-teller, so you have to ask first. We close the kitchen and 4 and you order new food near 5 when the kitchen was clean. We don't cook nothing out of the menu and you can check it at the website and on the restaurant street door.Sorry if your experience has not been good enough and hope to see you soon.
